The first firearms in Corvallis, Oregon were a shotgun and rifle owned by George White. He built the first gun shop in 1876. The arsenal was destroyed in a fire, but White rebuilt it and started selling rifles and shotguns. In 1886, he founded the Oregon Rifle & Shotgun Association to promote shooting sports in the state. The association continued to grow until 1912 when it merged with the American Rifleman Associaiton to form the National Rifle Association of America (NRA).
Corvallis, Oregon is a picturesque small town located in the Southeastern Oregon region. The population of Corvallis was estimated to be around 50,000 as of the 2010 census. The name “Corvallis” is derived from the Spanish word for “crooked tree” and served as an early settlement by pioneers who arrived in 1845. Today, Corvallis remains a vibrant community with a rich history that has influenced many aspects of today’s society. The city was founded on November 3, 1845 by John McLoughlin and his brother-in-law George Wright. The first post office was established in 1846 and operated until 1888. In 1847, McLoughlin became Mayor of Portland after being elected to the State Senate. He later served as Governor of Oregon from 1865 to 1870 and again from 1875 to 1880. After leaving office, he resumed his business career at Jardine & Co., Ltd., which he had started when he was elected Mayor in 1863. In 1861, McLoughlin purchased 640 acres (2 km2) of land along the Willamette River south of downtown Corvallis for $5 per acre ($10 million at current prices). This land would become known as Riverside Park and would remain undeveloped until 1906 when it was donated by John Fenton to the City of Corvallis under their cityhood ordinance In 1886, following passage of the National Child Labor Act (NCLA), then-Governor John Kapp called for plans to create a conservation reserve near present day Interstate 5 northwest of town in order to protect local timber resources during this time period associated with rapid economic growth within Western Oregon In 1907, following passage of the Forest Service Organic Act (FSA), then-Mayor Jock Mahlon announced plans for development on portion of Riverside Park that included erection of a new civic center and parkway system including an expressway running through town center On July 15th 1914 voters passed an ordinance authorizing issuance and sale certificates representing up to $25 each for contributions towards construction costs associated with creation or improvement upon said Civic Center/Parkway System This event markedthe beginningsof what would eventually become oneofPortland’s most important urban revitalization efforts during its troubled early 20th century heyday

Corvallis, Oregon is a city in Oregon, United States. The population was 25,955 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Clackamas County. In 1853, the town site was surveyed by Captain Evan Hastings and named for General George A. McClellan because he had fought in the Mexican-American War and been wounded there. Corvallis grew slowly until a railroad junction was built in 1887 and began to bring jobs to the area; this growth led to annexation by Portland in 1907. The name of the city is taken from General Marcus Aurelius' battle cry "Corduroy" meaning "thunderbolt." The first post office called Corvallis was established on December 11, 1851, with Wm Fenton as its first postmaster. The present Post Office Building opened on May 3, 1903. At that time it became one of only two U.S. cities with electric lights (the other being Milwaukee). During World War II many soldiers were stationed at Fort Myer in Arlington County near Washington D.C., so when Congress created Military Area No 2 (MAN2) within Oregon City limits on October 14, 1942—just days after Pearl Harbor—Corvallis became an important military center for training troops destined for Oahu and Tinian Island in the Marianas Islands Campaign (1941-1945). For several years prior to that Corvallis had been home to Naval Air Station Lewis & Clark which operated WP-1D Stratojet bombers during World War II; these planes were used primarily for target practice out over Cape Horns before refueling at El Centro Field on San Diego County shoreline near Encinitas California en route back up into Japan! On July 6, 1944 Japanese forces attacked American warships anchored off north coast of island Honshu composed of USS Nagara (DD 511), USS Shimpo(DD 602), USS Yomei(KMS 10) and USS Shima(AGI 21). All six vessels were sunk with heavy loss including four officers killed as well as 16 enlisted men including Commandant Jens Nielsen who attempted unsuccessfully to swim ashore while under fire from enemy ship guards and died later from his wounds aboard shipyard hospital ashore before he could be evacuated! This resulted in Admiral Chester Nimitz's famous words "It could have been worse" when describing that day's action...Honshu would not become common battlefield ground again until Okinawa 1945! 3 members of Your browser does not support iframes
The town of Corvallis, Oregon was founded in 1859 by a group of Latter-day Saints who were traveling through the area. The town grew quickly and soon became a major center for education and commerce. In 1916, the town was renamed to honor President Woodrow Wilson.
