In 1945, after years of growth and development, the city reached its peak with over 25,000 residents living in 720 buildings. However, during the 1960s and 1970s economic troubles led to declining populations and major reductions in civic funding which have left Corvallis struggling to maintain its current level of services and infrastructure."
