The Cornelius holster company was started in 1903 by George Cornelius. George had a gun store in the town of Cornelius, Oregon and he decided to start a holster company to sell his guns to people in the area. The first holsters were made from leather and it took about four years for the company to get good quality holsters that would fit correctly. In 1912, Cornelius moved his business to an old mill in downtown Cornelius and started making holsters from metal instead of leather. The holsters were very popular and they lasted for many years. In 1933, the company was bought by Eberhard Grosse who changed the name to BrownellsHolsters. BrownellsHolsters continued making Holster products until 1976 when it was bought by Lee Enterprises which then became known as Myron Butler Enterprises. Myron Butler Enterprises discontinued manufacturing Holster products in 1990. There are several reasons why holster companies have been around for so long. In 1907, Cornelius became an incorporated city with a population of over 100 people. In 1916, Cornelius-Lodi School District No. 2 was consolidated into the Portland Public Schools district and renamed Cornelius-Lodi High School.
Cornelius, Oregon is a town in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The community was named for Cornelius Vanderbilt (1811-1885), one of the founders of Portland and a leading civic figure in Oregon during its early years. They were followed by people from British Columbia and other parts of Canada that year. By 1886, there were over 100 residents living hereabouts. It wasn't until 1907 when the townsite became eligible for incorporation as a city because it had a population of over 1,000 residents; however, incorporation never happened because two referendums failed to get support within the town's governing body - one due to funding cuts made by local millionaire ranchers Harry Hillman and Averell Harriman, and the other due to discrimination against womenfolk among some male officials who framed their objections on religious grounds (the men believed that women should not hold public office). In 1915, when it became clear that World War I would result in mass deportations of American citizens abroad as part of President Wilson's wartime strategy called " White Night ", many Cornelius citizens decided to take up arms against Wilson's government instead. The majority chose not to fight but did form militias such as "The Cornetians" which fought skirmishes with federal forces from 1916 into 1918; however most local members surrendered after being told they would be pardoned if they deserted their units or returned home without military service (many agreed to do so only after applying for parole under duress). In total more than 60% of all adult male citizens turned themselves In before hostilities ceased on November 11th 1918 (). From 1919 through 1924 much effort went into developing an agricultural industry although corn production never reached levels attained prior to 1902due largely to high costs associated with irrigation systems required for such a large operation (today corn production nationally averaged about 2 bushels/acre per person in 2008). However during this time period someSignificant improvements have been made including new housing developments like Goodyear Village which opened up near Interstate 5 in 1966 adjacent to what is now Cascade Mall; today this area provides significant employment opportunities for local workers as well as tourists visiting downtown Portland

The Cornelius area was first settled by Europeans in the late 18th century. The first permanent settlement was made on the banks of the Willamette River, about three miles from present-day Cornelius. In 1847, a group of Swedish immigrants founded a small town on the site called Uppsala. By 1860, there were also several other small settlements in and around Cornelius. In 1862, the United States acquired Oregon from Mexico and officially named it as part of its new country. The Cornelius area became part of what is now eastern Oregon. There were few development opportunities until World War II when the military brought industry to town and created jobs for residents. After the war ended, growth continued with businesses coming during the 1990s through 2000s recession free times. Today, Cornelius is an established community with many businesses and cultural attractions available to visitors.
