For many years until 1971 Central Point College operated outof Fenton's estate known as "Fenton Hills". Today central point college operates out side Downtown central point The first post office called "Central Point" opened on November 24th 1885 under the name "Oregon Post Office No. 7." It took over from an earlier post office established near where present day First Avenue and Elm Street crosspresenting evidence that those caught up in lively political debate were not supposed to be living closer than three miles (5 km) away from their polling place! This might explain why no tangible evidence exists today documenting when or how this first post office functioned, but given central point's strategic location within easy commuting distance for many people during those early days it is likely that it did quite well .
