In 1944–45 during World War II there were two air raids on CentralPoint: one on September 16th and one on October 3rd which destroyed several buildings including the grocery store and church (the only structure to be hit). Despite this damage, no casualties resulted from these raids as part of aerial strategic bombing campaign called "The Great White Hope". During its history as a small town with low population densityCentral Point has experienced significant growth thanks to neighboring hood river county's agricultural production along with more recent nonresidential development developments such as Case Western Reserve University's School of Business Administration Park & Preserve which are scattered throughout downtown area creating mixed use/industrial areas that have seen increased commercial activity over time .
