In 1862 The United States Congress passed legislation creating Clackamas County, named for General David IvesClackamas River District No 2Commissioner of Indian Affairs - with headquarters located here in downtown Clackamas County between First Congregational Church (founded 1849) and Dole House (1860). In 1932Congress changed the name of Clackamas County to Oregon because most residents there were already residents of neighboring Washington Territory when it was created. The arrival of railroads during the late 19th century stimulated growth within central Oregon but did not bring about much newcomers to central Bentonville or eastside towns like Ashland or Corvallis; those towns had originated as wagon trains traveling through this part of Oregon before either going south into California or west into Nevada. Although eastern Bentonville became known primarily for brewing coffee during this time frame due to its location on three major rivers – Deschutes River, Snake River and Columbia River – central Bentonville gradually emerged as a center for arts and culture because it was accessible from all directions without having to leave towncenter via Expressway #1A which ran northeast-southwest through town center while Expressway #2 ran northwest-southeast through residential areas adjacent to Interstate 5E bypassing town center altogether

In 1846, Brigham Young (founder and leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) came to Bent and invited several families to move into his home on North Main Street where he began officiating at services there before moving on to Salt Lake City in 1847. One resident, John Wesley Powell who later became an American explorer and national hero, helped build a schoolhouse west of the present day intersection of US 26/US 97A (now I-5) and Northwest First Street in 1850 just south of what is now known as Powell's Store which became a popular tourist attraction for locals and travelers alike due to its commanding view from atop high hills westward across downtown Bend
Bend, Oregon was first settled by the Yakima people in 1847. The town was founded on the site of an old U.S. military post, which had been destroyed in a fire. In 1862, Bend became the capital of Oregon after it was moved from Salem. The city was renamed Portland in 1871 and grew rapidly due to its location at the mouth of the Willamette River and its access to natural resources such as lumber and coal. The city experienced significant growth during World War II, when it became one of the primary hubs for air-raiding operations over Japan.
