Bend, Oregon is a city in Douglas County, Oregon, United States. The city was founded on April 20, 1887 by James Fenton and his wife Lillie Hargrave. The population was 15 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Douglas County.

This plan failed to gain momentum due to concerns about potential environmental damage caused by ensuing construction projects; however, renewed interest has revived development plans in recent years based upon improved planning techniques and better understanding of what makes Bend unique among Central Oregon communities. Today, Bend is known for its parks and green spaces as well as its rich cultural heritage which includes traditional Native American life customs along with modern artistry from locals such as John Trimble and DonatellO Moretti both painters who are considered pioneers within their respective fields
The first white people to live in Bend, Oregon were Jedediah Smith and his family, who arrived in 1824. The town was founded by Captain John Steedman in 1846 as a trading post on the Great Salt Lake. In 1861, the town was renamed Bend when a railroad was built through the area. In 1924, Bend became the capital of Oregon.
