A few years later, the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce started selling mounts to local businesses. In 1995, AT&T donated a telescope mounting system (the THOR4) to be used at their new Beaverton headquarters building. This allowed for business owners in the area to rent space outside of their buildings so they could use this equipment for educational purposes only! In 2000, Bob Kapp from McMinnville founded his own optics company called "Bob's Optics", which became a major player in scope mounting services in Oregon. That year, investors purchased land east of downtown from the original owners of what is now known as Pioneer Place mall and began constructing a mixed-use development called South Park. In 1936, Beaverton incorporated as a city under the name of “Beaverton”. At this time, there were only three other cities in Oregon: Eugene, Salem andPortland; all had been founded earlier in that decade by refugees from central Oregon during the Great Depression. In 1955, Beaverton annexed parts of Walla Walla County following bitter competition between those two jurisdictions over water rights near Interstate 5. In 1959, Beaverton became home to America’s first full-service indoor amusement park when Pacific Amusement Corporation (PAC) opened at Warner Bros./Everett Place Shopping Center on NW Sixth Avenue

Beaverton is a small city in central Oregon, located on the Willamette River. It was founded in 1872 by James Irvine and named for his home of Beaver Dam, Pennsylvania. The population of Beaverton was 7,814 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit what is now Beaverton were Chief Seattle's men on their way from the Columbia River to trade with the Pacific Northwest region. In 1811, Captain David Thompson and five other British sailors reached the river's mouth and explored it for three weeks before returning home. On October 15, 1872, James Irvine built a log cabin at what is now Southeast 5th Avenue and Hawthorne Street just south of Interstate5 across from Pioneer Courthouse Square. That same year, Oregon State University opened its doors as Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) under then-Governor JohnOSullivan. OAC became Oregon State University–Beaverton in 1907 when it merged with OSU's School of Agriculture to become the University of Oregon. In 1915, Portland Mayor Neilson Barnes recommended that Beaverton be annexed into Portland due to its close proximity to downtown and rapid growth since incorporation as a city in 1870; however, this proposal met stiff resistance from many locals who saw annexation as an inappropriate move given Beaverton's humble beginnings and lack of infrastructure at that time. In 1923 referendum votes supported annexing Beaverton into Portland but only after amendments were made which limited voting rights to property owners owning between two-thirds and one-half of all taxable acreage within city limits; this measure passed 68% to 32%. In 1926 Mayor Harry Staley vetoed annexation because he felt that too much change would come about without input from residents first; this veto led to heated debate between both mayors over future annexation plans during the 1924 mayoral term). After years of discussion, City Council voted on annexing Beaverton on February 2nd 1927 with JB Ladd acting as mayor pro tem; this vote coincided with Beaverson's centennial anniversary celebration which also included an open air parade through downtown streets followed by a dinner at Denny Manor hotel where Governor Oswald Mosley delivered remarks praising townspeople for their progressivism during World War II while vowing not too infringe upon First Amendment rights granted unto them by Congress specifically during wartime via The Espionage Act 1917). beaverton is a city in Oregon, United States. The population was 23,624 at the 2010 census. Beaverton was founded in 1892 by George Beavers and named for his farmstead on the Willamette River.
