Finally there are two Jehovah's Witnesses churches: Kingdom Hall located at 15th Ave NE corner NW corner SE corner NW outside of Parkdale neighborhood east side facing Willamette River this building replaced an earlier structure built 1936 which burned down 1997 Congregational church located at SW 12th Ave NE corner S between NE 11th Street Northeast opposite MAX Station this congregation replaced an earlier congregation which burned down 1937 Mountain View UMC also located at SW 12th Ave NE corner S between NE 11th Street Northeast opposite MAX Station

The first European discovery of the area was by Captain George Vancouver on 17 October 1792 when he sighted an island about east of present-day Beaverton. He named it "Beaver Island" because he thought that beavers would build their dams on the island to divert water from the river onto their property. The first settlement in what is now Beaverton was made by John Day in 1824 and was called Canoe Landing. It was located along the Willamette River near present-day Westfield and Pioneer Courthouse Square. In 1847, James Wolkentin built a mill on Willamette River betweenpresent-day Beaverton and Portland. This mill became one of the earliest successful commercial ventures in Oregon. In 1850, Jens Wilhelm Eckert founded Eckert & Company which manufactured flour, soap, candles, cigars and other items for export to Japan and Europe. In 1863–1864, John Sell purchased land east of present-day Beaverton from Phillip Barton Indian Reservation for development into what is now downtown Beaverton. Sell's land included much of what is today Interstate 5 and State Route 97A
