Beaverton, Oregon is home to the largest concentration of gun owners in the country. In 1933, local police began using rifles as their primary weapon when they responded to calls for service from citizens during the Depression era. In 1937, Congress passed the National Firearms Act which made it illegal to possess or sell any machineguns or automatic weapons without a federal license. Gun control laws have been an issue in Beaverton since before it was incorporated as a town. In 1853, pro-gun activists successfully lobbied for passage of an ordinance that restricted gun ownership within the municipality boundaries

Beaverton, Oregon is a town in the Willamette Valley of southern Oregon. The population was 27,917 at the 2010 census. Beaverton is the most populous city in Multnomah County and has a population of about 71,000 as of 2016. Beaverton began as an agricultural community on the north side of what is now Interstate 5. In 1887, James Clough purchased 2,500 acres (900 hectares) east of Beaverton for $30 per acre. He named his new community after General George Washington Butler who had died four years earlier while serving in Mexico City as United States Ambassador to Spain. The first post office was established in Beaverton on December 12, 1887. The town grew rapidly due to its location near major transportation hubs such as I-5 and Interstate 84. A shopping center was built in downtown Beaverton in 1984 and became known as "the mall". In 1994, the city annexed part of Hood River County which added an additional 11,000 residents; this made Beaverton one of the largest cities in Multnomah County by population size alone. In 2000, construction began on a new freeway bypassing downtown that would connect to I-5 and create a larger area for development around it; this project was completed two years later. The annexation also created more jobs within city limits due to increased traffic congestion along I-5 outside of town limits. Holsters provide limited protection against theft as they offer no means for securing the weapon once it has been removed from its holster. However, they do offer some level of peace of mind as guns cannot easily be accessed while wearing them so they can only be used if needed. holsters can also inadvertently leave weapons accessible when not being worn which could lead to unintentional shootings should someone gain access to a handgun without owner knowledge

In 1857–58 during the SALT campaign against Mexico–the first conflict between America and Mexico since Mexican independence–Beaverton became an early symbol of American patriotism by manufacturing captured Mexican flags for use by local citizens during parade events throughout the city center
Beaverton, Oregon was founded in 1847 by James K. Polk and David S. Peabody as a small town on the eastern edge of the Willamette Valley. The town grew rapidly and by 1854 it had become an important transportation center on the Pacific Northwest Trail. In 1860 Beaverton became the first incorporated city in Oregon. The city experienced rapid growth during the late 19th century and early 20th century, with its population reaching over 100,000 by World War I. However, during World War II Beaverton declined as a result of its proximity to military bases and other defense activities; however, it has since regained some of its former prosperity through suburban development and economic growth in nearby cities such as Portland and Salem.
