Beaverton is home to the world's first gun barrel that was manufactured using a gas-fired hot gas forge. The beaverton armory and factory were built in 1892 by J.H. Beavers, an early settler in the area. The factory produced firearms for the Oregon militia during the Oregon Trail era and throughout World War I. It alsoproduced guns for the US military during World War II. In 1957, the company merged with Butler arms, creating Beaverton Arms Corporation. The company continued to produce firearms until it closed in 1984.

In 1915, John Aiken opened his business Aiken's grocery store at 5th Avenue South and Interstate 5 to become one of the first commercial businesses in Beaverton. In 1927–28, businessman Clarence Byers built a three-story brick building at 222 NW Broadway which became known as Beavers Inn after him; it remains operational today as a hotel/motel adjacent to NorthwestERT College campus across from Discovery Park Drive). In 1957–58 construction began on annexing much of north central Beaverton into newly created City Hall Township; this annexation led to increased development around that core sector until 1961 when City Hall Township was dissolved effective October 1 following passage by Pennsylvania General Assembly No. 71-1961 (an act establishing Multnomah County) of an ordinance creating additional incorporated municipalities within Multnomah County without giving effect to City Hall Township's boundaries - effectively disbanding both entities entirely! Accordingly Annexation Number 2 resulted which took place between 1962-1965 just east side SW Third Avenue then north side SE First Avenue west side NW Second Avenue thence northerly along NE Yamhill Street westerly along SE Yamhill Street southwesterly along NW First Avenue east side NE Sixth Avenue thence easterly along NE Seventh Avenue southerly alongNW First Avenue until reaching its current southern terminus at US 97!!GOD BLESS THIS CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF KEEPING OUR COMMUNITY STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
