Beaverton is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 26,723 at the 2010 census. Beaverton is home to the Oregon Health and Science University and MAX light rail system. In 1906, John H. Christensen started a soda manufacturing company in what is now Beaverton with one machinegun he had bought from an Austrian arms dealer. In 1919, Christensen's son Bruce founded Christensen Manufacturing Company which became known as BMG firearms Holdings Inc., later renamed Specialty Arms Corporation. From 1979 until its sale to Jimenez Firearms LLC in 2003, Specialty Arms Corp. was the largest firearms manufacturer in Oregon by sales volume before it went out of business due to economic difficulties
