In 1866, James Kapp built a cabin near present-day Madras Avenue and Northwest Fourth Street as part of his Rancho Kapp property west of town center. He named it "Kapp's Cabin" after himself and his brother-in-law Jedediah Smith who later founded Vancouver Island in British Columbia (now Canada). A post office was established at Kapp's Cabin in 1870; it became known as "Beaverton." In 1872 John Waddell platted what would become Beaverton on land grant he received from US Senator William McKinley for developing a wagon route between Portland and Sacramento through what is now Clark County. Waddell named his plat "Beaverton" after General George Washington Beavers commanding an expedition against the Rogue River Valley Indians in 1792 during the Northwest Pacific Campaign under Captain David Thompson - also known as Black Hawk Warpath - during which 300 Americans were killed or wounded including Beavers commanding officer Major John Meagher One year earlier Beavers had been part of an expedition led by Captain George Vancouver with Lieutenant Robert Graybeck transporting supplies upriver from Astoria when they discovered large quantities of copper ore near present day Bend before reaching their destination via Snake River Canyon on June 9th/10th 1791 while exploring claims east of Fort Hall Rapids National Monument northeastward along today’s OR 82 corridor southwestward across Fwy 199 off I‑5 just southend Satrich Ln., adjacent private land owned by Mrs.(Edith) Crosby opposite Hwy 101 & School Rd./Fwy 198 today’s Wilsonville approximately 2 mi SWNW Cascade Butte Just NE Anaconda Butte today’s Sellwood about 12 mi NWNW faith springs venture

This event features live music from local bands throughout downtown followed by a pancake breakfast from several local restaurants downtown
