Today's downtown core retains much of its early commercial activity with buildings dating back to 187O including the original Wickersham Brewery building which now houses the city's only department store - Macy's Global Village Outlet Mall (). The old bank building located at 201 SW Gresham St., known locally as "The Bank", still stands vacant but used as storage since it closed its doors in 2006 following years of decline due to increased competition from online banking options such as Amazon Web Services ().
