Ashland is a city in Lane County, Oregon, United States. The population was 54,878 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lane County. The name "Ashland" originates from an early settler's choice of this location because it could be irrigated without having to build new dams or reservoirs. The city proper was founded in 1868 when the Road and Canal Company built a canal through what is now Ashland Township. The first post office in Ashland was established in 1869. In 1870, Mr. Wm. Halsey donated land to become the town site of Ashland Township and its original limits included present-day easternmost Lane County and all of today's westernane portion of Morrow City east of I-5 (and northwest of Salem). The townsite grew rapidly due to demand for water rights associated with the proposed canal route which would run through town: residents contributed $2,500 towards construction; by 1872, they had raised $14,000 more and began fundraising for another bridge over Willamette River which would connect their side of town with the canal company's land on the other side. On July 4th, 1873, their dream came true when engineers arrived to survey the river crossing – they found a natural stream crossing just south of town that allowed easy access by wagonloads for people visiting nearby vineyards. This became known as "The Gully Bridge", marking one corner in history where commerce intersected nature.. Although originally intended as a small community center only accessible by wagons ferrying goods between two nearby farmssteads (the "Farmstead 1" farmhouse still stands), growth led to annexation by Portland in 1907 and incorporation into that city two years later – making Ashland one of Oregon's first incorporated cities!Today it remains an agricultural center with fruit orchards, cheese factories and hog barns dotting its landscape; but also sees some activity related to arts & culture including several college campuses within spitting distance!

As each new model came out, manufacturers needed more space inside their magazines for all the new ammo being offered! Ashland, Oregon is a small town located in the U.S. state of Oregon. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Josephine County and the largest city in Josephine County by area. The first people to live in what is now Ashland were Native Americans who hunted and fished near present day Coos Bay. In 1853, Captain James Halsey sailed upriver from Fort Dalles on his way to California and anchored at present dayashland for supplies before continuing upstream on his journey northward. In 1855, Tom Kirkpatrick built a sawmill on the Willamette River some distance downstream from where it joins the river today. The mill was used until 1862 when it was destroyed by a flood that caused the Willamette River to overflow its banks. In 1861, John Condon platted what is now Ashland with land grant called "Condon Prairie" which included present-day Ashland and parts of Josephine County. The first store in Ashland opened up in 1865 under license from local physician Drury Coleman at corner of Second Street and East Main Street then known as "Coleman's Drug Store". The post office operated from 1865 to 1867 from an older building on First Street which burned down during that time; mail was delivered into town by wagon over a plank bridge across North Fork Willamette River until 1885 when a new bridge was built across North Fork Willamette River which allowed mail delivery into town by truck only after 1945 when airmail service began between Portland and Salem.. A school opened up in 1870 named Clover Hill Academy but closed due to lack of students; it reopened as South Clackamas High School in 1924 after being purchased by District 8 board of education members who renamed it Clover Hill High School because they felt it would be more fitting than South Clackamas Academy which had been previously called Springvale Union High School). The post office moved again in 1925 to its current location at 6th Avenue & Harrison Streets (now part of State Route 97) because there wasn't enough space available at Clover Hill High School for all of their outgoing mail!
