In 1840, when Congress created Multnomah County, part of it included what is now eastern Oregon; however, little development occurred until after Multnomah County was organized as a federal district by act of March 4th 1863 under President Abraham Lincoln without state approval or participation. This led to many residents moving into Multnomah County while others chose not to move because they did not perceive multilingual county services as an important benefit.(1) A post office called Ashland was established in 1872; according to one source “the name originated with Averell Harriman’s purchase from David Waddell six months earlier of 640 acres (24 km2) northwest of Salem where he had built a trading post(s).” Ashley means “a place among trees” so Harriman may have named his settlement after Ashley Creek which flows nearby.(2) Samuel Morse constructed a sawmill around this time but it failed within two years due to low demand for lumber.(3) By 1880 there were only 10 houses in town and most citizens worked outside the business community.(4) By 1910 there were over 3200 people living here with autos leading local industry by way of Ashland Dam which provided power for mills and other businesses as well as providing water supply.(5) With World War I raging across EuropeAshland became an important training center with soldiers being sent home on leave; consequently many homes Burned down duringWWI resulting in few buildings remaining standing today including several churches that still stand despite damage done over time.$1 million has been restored/replaced on these buildings since then

A positive pressure or lip lock choke attaches rubber o-rings directly to the top chamber area on firearms so that when you pull the trigger, there's no air left inside the firearm- just gas! This system was developed in order to make it harder for someone else to shoot your weapon while you'religitimately holding it!

In 1913-14, when each county had its own superintendent of schools, public school teachers were employed by both theMultnomah School District and Ashtondale School District; this arrangement continued until 1945 when Multnomah School District disbanded and teachers were hired by individual counties.
