This event helped increase sales for all of the stores involved and has kept them busy ever since!

Ashland, Oregon is home to the first American firearms factory in 1877. The factory manufactured rifles and pistols for the Ashland Rifle Company. The company was dissolved in 1903, but its legacy of firearm manufacturing lives on in present-day Ashland with companies such as Smith & Wesson and Glock making their mark here.
Ashland, Oregon is a small town in the US state of Oregon. The population was 6,716 at the 2010 census. Ashland is located in the Josephine County seat and has a total area of 4square miles (10 km²). The first Europeans to visit what is now Ashland were fur traders from Russia in 1807. In 1846, John C. Frémont first explored the area and named it "Oregon." The name was changed to "Ashland" by Humboldt County commissioners in honor of General Philip Ashley who had fought for California during the Mexican-American War. As a result of its location on Humboldt River between two mountain ranges - one called the Cascades and another known as the Andes - Ashland received more than its share of natural highlights, including several waterfalls and an impressive view of Mount Shasta from downtown. In 1872, American Pacific Railroad built tracks through Ashland and began offering passenger services. By 1875, most people had left or been forced out because of competition from trains and road construction. However, when railroads became monopoly powers after World War I, they allowed small towns like Ashland to survive by becoming railway terminals with convenience stores and other businesses on site. The last passenger train departed Ashland on May 10th 1984; all traffic stopped at Prineville due to track problems near that town. Although there have been proposals to reopen the line over many years - including one led by then Mayor Phil Morse - no decisions have yet been made about how best to keep Amtrak's passenger service running through AshLAND without having any impact on local economy or residents' lives
