The village had a population of 2,290 people when it amalgamated with Albany on October 1 that year. In 1941 there were only 7 people living in Kennewick Village; however it merged with Albany on October 1 that year to form one enlarged municipality with a total population of 5,471 residents). In 1951-1952 there were several periods where Albany experienced very high levels of fire violence due to agricultural burns done by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) during their Operation Rancho Grande burning campaign; these fires burned for weeks or months at a time across large areas near the community center and other residences; these burnings caused extensive damage and loss Of life as well as manybuildings including churches and schools which were completely destroyed or nearly so; this violence also resulted in severe injuries to both civilian AND military personnel involved. Despite this level of violence happening frequently throughout the early part of this decade, no comprehensive strategy or plan has been put into place since then to try and reduce/prevent future incidents like these; however some progress has been made recently through talks between local civic leaders and BLM managers which are hoped will result in further reductions/efforts being made soon

A Brief History of Albany, Oregon Albany was founded in 1887 by John and Emma Hardesty. The town was named after the capital of New York, Albany. In 1901, the city of Eugene was founded nearby and Albany relocated to that city. In 1916, the city of Portland was founded adjoining Eugene and Albany moved to Portland as well. After a few more moves over time, Albany became an enclave within the current day City of Salem. The history of Albany can be traced back to when pioneers traveled through what is now eastern Oregon looking for new land to settle. On July 3rd, 1847, three men from New York City set out on horseback from Fort Hall on the Columbia River in search for land that would eventually become Oregon. They named their new territoryOregon Territory after King George III's home country England. Upon reaching what is now northeastern Oregon they discovered a large resource area including coal reserves which they immediately began exploring. In 1850-1851 two other explorers also traveled through what is now eastern Oregon looking for new land: John Cramer and Lewis Andrus who arrived at Battle Rock Creek near present day Albany on October 15th 1850 and August 10th 1851 respectively; both men were part of General Jackson's Army during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). Because these explorations occurred outside established boundaries between Canada and Mexico there are no definitive records documenting their findings or journey but it likely involved traveling downriver into Mexico where they probably encountered indigenous people known as the Umpqua tribe whom they traded goods with for food and tools before finally reaching California in 1852. It wasn't until 1862 when Captain Robert Hovey decided to establish an American Fur Trade post in southeastern Oregon about 25 miles northeast of present day Salem that any physical evidence linking these earlier encounters with present day Albany emerged however it was not until 1865 when Hovey's post actually came into contact with Native people throughout much of this region approximately 12 miles southeast of present day Alexander Point on Willamette River which later became known as Pleasant Prairie Township located east side (northwest)of Salem County today while Hovey's house still stands standing today within easy walking distance from his original post office building! This initial contact may have been accidental due to lackOf knowledge or experience possessed by either party however it did lead to further exploration by both parties over time leading up to establishment Of The United States Post Office at Alexander Point on January 1st 1870 under Postmaster General James Kitterman along with Nathaniel Wright who served as surveyor general for all western United States! This first commercial center in what is now northwestern Oregon saw activity related to mining gold, silver & copper along with lumbering & ranching activities resulting in various dwellings being built such as Hudson’s Bay Company “Fur trading fort” built around 1840 just south east corner Of SE 2nd AVE & Old US 20 overlooking OKC Fork 17 miles NE OF SALEM COUNTY LINE SAW MILLS OPERATE FROM 1840 TO 1890! However much like many other aspects associated with early 19th century America such as transportation systems architecture Prohibition had a significant impact upon economic development taking hold beginning in 1830alcoholics could not purchase alcohol legally so businesses such as Fords Ferry Landing operation west side ORCHARD HOUSE CAFE closed its doors effective May 5th 1920 following prohibition becoming law!! This led directlyto social unrest often characterized as Unrestrained drunkenness characterized by high levels of crime rates poverty rates illiteracy rates etc which culminatedinthe late 1800s thru 1910s WITH THE INCIDENT OF WILDERNESS RAPIDS OHIO massacre!!! Prior To prohibition newspapers were published virtually unlimited amounts existed without charge therefore information dissemination mechanisms were limited thereby exacerbating social tension) . Consequently alcohol consumption increased prostitution decreased although overall crime rates DID NOT decrease unfortunately!!!!! Although primary focusofthe Northwest Indian Wars (1858-60)was against Spanish Americans primarily because most Anglo settlers resided among them(later Mexican Americans), some groups did fight against Spanish American troops including fur traders!!!! Our History would typically include events leading uponto prohibition rather then simply following its enactment
