Yukon, Oklahoma has a rich history of firearms and shooting. The area was once home to many buffalo herds, which left their tracks in the mud and earth that still litter the landscape. Today, Yukon is known for its hunting and shooting properties, including the Chisholm Hills Wildlife Preserve. In 1892, John L. Chisholm founded the town of Edmond on his Rancho Viejo Mexican Land grant in present-day Yukon County. In 1903, he donated land to Oklahoma Territory as part of a land swap that resulted in Alaskan Malamute ranch becoming part of Oklahoma. The town of Edmond grew up around Chisholm Hill Ranch and other shooting preserves located within the boundaries of today’s Yukon County. Many early shooters from the area took their skills to various rifle ranges throughout southeastern OKLAHOMA Territory before arriving in Yukon in search of good hunting grounds. By 1915, there were over 20 rifle ranges open for use in Yukon county alone! Shooting competitions were held at many locations throughout the years such as at Fort Sill (now Tulsa), McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (now Midland), and elsewhere across southeastern OKLAHOMA Territory. On July 15th 1921, one year after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor%, gun owners de facto declared “Gun Free America Day” with events taking place throughout the country celebrating responsible firearm ownership! Today, you can find plenty of opportunity to shoot here if you enjoy outdoor activities or hunt game birds or deer outdoors! The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Yukon were fur traders. They named the area after their location on Kodiak Island, which they had seen from their ships in the Arctic Ocean. The city of Yukon was founded in 1907 by settlers who came from Great Britain. It grew quickly due to its position as a transportation hub for goods moving between Canada and Mexico City. In 1951, it became an unincorporated community within the present-day city of Yukon. Today, Yukon retains many of its pioneer traditions such as its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its use of aboriginal art materials in various products including knives and lamps. Yukon is a small town in the Oklahoma Panhandle, located on the Canadian border. The population was 2,269 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskogee County seat of Muskogee. The first white people to arrive in Yukon were trader and fur trappers from Siberia who traveled down the Missouri River in 1867-68. They named their new place "Muskegon" after one of their native villages in Russia. In 1879, Acting Secretary of War Richard M. Butler approved a request by United States Congressman James Wickersham to name the town for General John Custer, who had died during his cavalry charge against Sioux warriors near Fort Hays on July 4, 1876. Yukon was founded as an oilfield settlement in 1907 by J. Aubrey Lyon and others working for Standard Oil Company's Yukon Field Drilling rig project; it became an independent city on December 1, 1912 when all other panhandlers were integrated into municipal government under one single administrator (the first city council). On January 3, 1907, two days before Canada joined World War I on April 6th, United States President Theodore Roosevelt offered $5 million dollars towards building a military airbase at White Sands Missile Range northwest of Muskogee to ensure American victory over German forces if war broke out as expected; this offer was accepted and construction began immediately upon Roosevelt's proclamation creating what would become known as White Sands Army Air Base or "Yukon". The original town site lay within present-day downtown Yukon and included parts of what are now Fremont Avenue and South Main Street Streets NW.; development continued until shortly before World War II when most commercial property ceased production due to lack of natural resources which had once been key to Yukon's economy including coal, uranium ore, lead and zinc ore; few remaining buildings currently remain from that time period although several have been restored or converted into residential properties over time including Alamo Plaza Hotel (now Best Western Plus), One Stop diner/cafeteria/motel (now Diner x4), Rexall Drug Store (former Gander Gas station) and First National Bank Building now used as office space for City Hall; additional commercial properties not mentioned herein have since closed down such as Anadarko Petroleum Co., Casino Royale Land & Casino Resort Ltd., Canadian Tire Corporation etc.. At its peak during late 1920s through early 1930s there were more than 100 businesses operating in Downtown Yukon with an estimated payroll totaling $2 million dollars per year; however many did not survive beyond 30 years because there was no industry left local or abroad which could provide replacement labor without expensive relocation costs etc.. By 1940 only 10 businesses remained downtown while 350 residents lived outside the limits established by City Manager David Ayer withblocks extending eastward along Fremont Avenue NE.;[1] following World War II much decline followed with only 8 businesses still extant by 1970 Census having paid salaries to employees exceeding $25 per week maximum although these companies either closed down rapidly or moved operations out west where there was available labor Otherwise most businesses closed outright such as Armour Ammunition Corp., Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company - predecessor of GEICO - [owned today by State Farm], First National Bank - predecessor of HSBC - [closed today], Rexall Drugs store being demolished relocated next door onto current day South Main Street NW.; most residences vacated during this time also leaving vacant lots throughouttown except for some newly reconstructed structures dating back to prewar years like Masonic Lodge No. 722 built 1935-36 using lumber salvaged from old Post Office building demolition then re-erected circa 1951 inside former bank lobby interior walls facing Fremont Avenue NE.. The last business remaining open in Downtown Yukon post-WWII until it shuttered completely in 1984 was Alamo Plaza Hotel which continued paying its employees well into the 1990s While many older buildings have since been replaced or demolished numerous times over various incarnations both small scale renovation projects carried out between 1994-2001[2] and largerscale updates & reconstructions completed between 2002-present[3]; overall redevelopment has resulted in increased pedestrian traffic flow aroundDowntown Yuekomahowever occasional loss ofhistoric character&neatness particularly along FremontAvenueNE

In 1939, Yukon became an all-white resort town after black developers replaced white farmers as its main source of income. In 1952, Yukon merged with neighboring Tulsa to form Tulsa County.
