The Yukon, Oklahoma Territory was made up of the eastern and western halves of Kansas. The territory was acquired by the United States in 1907 as part of a land cession deal that included Oregon, Nevada and Arizona. The first mention of firearms in the area comes from Dodge City Indian Chief John Hance's journal entry dated October 21, 1881. He noted that he had seen "a party of Indians" traveling down the Arkansas River with their rifles and pistols. In 1911, an arms dealer named J.B. Thompson opened a shop in downtown Yukon. His store sold shotguns, rifle cartridges and other ammunition products to Native Americans living in the territory. By 1912, Thompson had started selling handguns as well, but it wasn't until 1913 when he opened his own gunsmithing business called Smith & Wessonspawning gun enthusiasts throughout the area who would come visit him for repairs or new guns. In 1915, Sheriff Harry Herrington requested weapons from local dealers to be used against Japanese invaders during World War I; however, these requests were not fulfilled due to lack of funding or bureaucratic red tape. With stricter gun laws becoming prevalent after World War II began, Yukon saw a growth in firearm ownership among its citizens starting in the early 1950s when hunting became popular on the territory's high plainsides. This led to increased instances where law enforcement needed to carry firearms for protection while conducting investigations or patrolling areas rural than typical city neighborhoods which led to more attention being paid to firearm regulation on the territory overall beginning around this time period as well as earlier prohibition efforts leading up to it such as The Homestead Act which took effect on January 16th, 1861 outlawing all public carrying of firearms within territorial limits except for hunters possessing game taken lawfully during open season under specific conditions including identification and proof of purchase/ownership thereof at least two days before delivery The act also exempted muzzleloading artillery pieces having a caliber greater than .50 per barrel from its provisions
Yukon is a small, rural town in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The population was 1,839 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Muskogee-based Oklahoman Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located on the Klondike Highway, about east of McAlester, north of Tulsa and west of Lawton. Yukon was founded in 1907 as a trading post by Canadian miners looking for gold and silver buried in their area. The first post office opened in 1909 and local residents named their community after British explorer Sir John Franklin's 1811 journey to findeking survivors from an earlier expedition that had failed to find any worthwhile resources in what is now Canada. Yukon became a district (Oklahoma County) on October 14, 1912; it was authorized to have its own police department March 9, 1915 Pioneering white ranchers began arriving in Yukon beginning in 1916 when they discovered rich deposits of oil shale near where the Klondike Highway now exists. By 1922 over 100 businesses had been established with mining operations accounting for more than one-half of all economic activity statewide at that time; this drew many new settlers who were drawn by large profits potential available from these operations as well as by access to good transportation routes through Indian Territory. In 1944 two brothers - Myron Ladd and Aubrey Ladd - developed what would become one of America's most successful oil marketing companies: Ladd Oil & Gas Company Ltd., later renamed energy giant ConocoPhillips Incorporated (NYSE:COP). In 1956 formed a joint venture between ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil Corp.: ChevronTexaco Incorporated (Nasdaq:CVX) today.). This company drilled or operated some 2,500 wells across North America including 1,000 wells offshore Alaska during the years 1959-1983 inclusive). With McClusky Field closing due to low production levels from its reserves following deregulation several southeastern Oklahoma producers went into bankruptcy during this period led by Texaco which merged with other Gulf Coast refiners including Gulf Associated Refining Co., Inc., better known as GARCO which became Texaco Corporation (NYSE:TXO). When GARCO merged with Mobil Oil Corporation effective January 1st 1978Texaco continued operations under that name until 1984 when it merged with Amoco Products Industries plc.(Amoco Energy Corporation)(Nasdaq:AEOI), making Texaco one of the largest energy conglomerates ever created (). On July 25th 1990 Rex Tillerson took over control from his father Dick Tillerson as CEO/President at ExxonMobil boardroom level just prior to his elevation to Secretary General designate for international affairs () later becoming Chairman given his role within President George W Bushs administration (). The company has since been divided into five segments - Exploration & Production - Business Support - Corporate Planning & Budgeting - Supply Chain Management

The Yukon region of Oklahoma was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1800s. The area now includes parts of both the Yukon and Muskegon counties, as well as a small portion of Ottawa County. The name "Yukon" is derived from the Alaskan word "yaktanka." The area was first populated by the Athabascans, who were hunter-gatherers. In 1804, U.S. Senator James K. Polk visited this region and concluded that there was no land suitable for settlement in this part of America. He recommended to President Andrew Johnson that the government purchase 1 million acres (400 km²) of land in what is now Muskegon County, Michigan, and divide it among American settlers. In 1865, George Armstrong Custer led an army into these regions to explore new territory for the United States Army. After reaching Fort Smith, Arkansas on October 16, 1865, he and his unit began their journey westward through Oklahoma Territory towards California atropelagic currents known as Horseback River Currents which flows northward along the eastern edge of South Dakota and Nebraska before emptying into Missouri River near Yakima Falls on September 9th 1870. On November 15th 1870 Custer's regiment entered Indian Territory under cover of darkness after concluding their punitive campaign against Sioux militants at Wounded Knee Creek Massacre where over 100 US soldiers were killed including General Crook himself
The Yukon region was first settled by the aboriginal peoples of North America. In 1867, the United States purchased the land from Canada for $5 million. The area became a territory of the United States in 1959 and its name changed to Oklahoma when it joined the Union as a state in 1907. The capital, Yukon, was founded in 1909 and is the most recent city to be established in the region.
