Because these systems were not vulnerable to theft, they increased security for handguns and other firearms stored within them. Woodward is an unincorporated community in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. It had a population of 373 as of the 2010 census. Woodward was laid out in 1885 and named for General George A. Woodward, a veteran of the Mexican-American War who served as military governor of Indian Territory. The community name was changed to Woodward in 1907 when the post office was moved from New Mexico to Woodward.

The history of Woodward begins with its founding in 1887 by John W. Woodward and his brother-in-law James Fenton. The original settlers were farmers who ranched their land around what is now downtown Woodward. In 1907, they sold their land to J.P. Morgan for $1 million dollars which made Woodward one of the richest towns in Oklahoma Territory (renowned for its producing oil). When production ceased at the end of World War I, many residents left for other states; however, a nucleus of hardworking men stayed to continue productive farming and manufacturing operations such as foundries and meatpacking plants. In 1925, local businessmen formed the first state-chartered corporation in Oklahoma when they leased 1/2 mile (3 km) from Frisco Oil Field so that they could drill for oil under license from federal officials without having to worry about possible Indian attacks or environmental damage caused by drilling rigs parked near residential areas outside OFA boundaries (the so-called "Drilling Zone"). This early development helped spur further activity in downtown Woodward as businesspeople looked to gain access to new resources while keeping close tabs on government regulation affecting their enterprises (a practice known today as "gingerbread"). The growth of petroleum production created numerous challenges not only for downtown residents but also those living along Route 66 north of town – including businesses like Frisco Oil Field Supply Company which sought To skirt regulations governing traffic patterns within OFA limits while selling products from its store insideOFA boundary lines – creating an atmosphere often described as "illegal drilling" poker games being played out on Main Street during lunch hours among locals eager to see who could make the most money! But despite this public outcry organized efforts were made by city fathers like John Crouch to keep businesses open during prohibition times while still providing necessary services like grocery shopping and water supply; this scenario largely paralleled life today with some notable exceptions including increased police patrols along main streets during prohibition days just prior thereto due to fears that bootlegging would take place unchecked Large companies such as Shell Oil Corporation continued leasing lots adjacent TOFAs geographical boundaries throughout prohibition years because they knew full well how difficult it would be for any individual company or group everto produce enough barrels per day within these limits; however there were occasional episodes where citizens managedeto get away with breaking environmental laws by caching crude oil stockpiles off utility poles before sunset so noONAFE inspectors could seize shipments contents! These shenanigans aside many good people did try contribute materially towards helping TOFA survive during these difficult times! Some things never change - except OPEC decides we need more gasoline...
Woodward was a small town in western Oklahoma City. It was founded in 1894 by John A. Woodward, a postmaster, and his wife, Betsey. The town grew rapidly due to its location at the junction of two railways and its proximity to the state capital, Topeka. In 1907, Woodward became the county seat of Lincoln County after it was split from Haskell County. The population of Woodward peaked at around 10,000 in 1920 but declined during the Great Depression. By the early 1960s, Woodward had shrunk to less than 1,000 residents. Its only remaining businesses were a grocery store and a gas station. In 1964, the first U-Haul truck arrived in town and quickly became an important local industry. The townsite was renamed Woodward Village in 1997 after John AS Woodward Jr., one of its founders
