The story of guns in Woodward, Oklahoma begins with the early days of the town. The first firearms were rifles and shotguns used by the local farmers to protect their crops and homes from wild animals. In 1892, a group of men from Woodward formed the Woodward Rifle Club to purchase and maintain firearms in the community. The club soon became successful and began purchasing arms from various dealers throughout the state. In 1907, gunsmiths J.C. Haddix and Prentice Mather started production at Haddix Gun Works in Woodward for the Roper rifle company. This company manufactured weapons for many different brands including Colt, Winchester, Browning, Remington and Savage Arms among others. The years following World War I saw an influx of soldiers intoOklahoma who needed new firearms to protect themselves and their families. Many businesses within Woodward began manufacturing handguns as well as rifles/ shotguns for this new population. These businesses included George Wernick’s Boot & Shoe Store (later Wernick Firearms), Joe Bischoff’s Hardware store (later Buckeye Firearms) and Harry Fenton’s grocery store (later Fenton’s Sporting Goods). Throughout these years, gun enthusiasts continued to visit Woodward to buy firearms or hold shoots at local shooting ranges. In 1923, woodstock shooter extraordinaire Bob Marshall founded Bob Marshall Gun Shop in honor of his late father-in-law Bob Smith who had been a member of the original Woodward Rifle Club back in 1892. At Bob Marshall Gun Shop you could purchase all types of handguns including revolvers (Colt Python), pistols (Walther PPK/S), shotgun shells (.22 LR etc.), rifle rounds (.25 ACP etc.), .50 BMG bullets etc., among other items available on location during shoot sessions held at nearby Barton Hills Recreation area known today as Barton Hills Golf Course located southwest of town on Ulysses Road near Interstate 40 exit 281A off I-40 eastbound lanes Exit 281B westbound lanes).

Note that some rifles like bolt action shotguns may use 12 round magazines although this is not common anymore because bolt action firearms don't rely much on accuracy when shooting multiple rounds throughout their range cycle
Woodward, Oklahoma is home to the first gun shop in the area, established in 1903. The shop was later renamed the Woodward Gunsmithy and Arsenal. In 1934, it was merged with the nearby Tulsa Gunsmithy to form the Woodward Gunnery Corporation. In 1953, it became a division of United Manufacturing Corporation. The company went bankrupt in 1982 and was sold to Brownells Firearms Company. In 1993, Brownells merged with Aguilar Manufacturing Company and WoodwardGun sercurity Corp., becoming one of the largest firearms dealers in North America.

Woodward, Oklahoma is a town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,723 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Woodward was founded in 1902 as a small community named Nanceboro on the banks of the Arkansas River. The name change to Woodward in 1907 when it became apparent that the town would only grow if its namesake had something to do with it. With this goal in mind, Woodward began developing its economy through timber and mining ventures that produced goods such as lumber and coal for local markets. In 1916, Woodward became one of thirty-six towns approved by then-Governor George Wickersham to become part of the newly formed city of Tulsa. In 1933, while serving as mayor of Tulsa City Hall, Jock Mahony observed that "the best way to promote business development within [Tulsa] is by having an open market where people can come and buy whatever they want." To meet this challenge, Mahony developed what would become known as the "Open Market Program." This initiative aimed to provide a dedicated marketplace for merchants within Tulsa's city limits so that local businesses could sell their products without fear of being undercut by out-of-town competitors or placed behind schedule due to inventory shortages caused by global economic conditions. In 1934, Open Market Day saw more than 2,000 vendors from seventy-four cities participate in what Mahony called "the largest open market ever held in Tulsa." As a result of his efforts and those of other city leaders during the Depression years, Tulsa's economy stabilized and grew rapidly into the mid-1930s; during this time period also saw significant progress made in highway construction which significantly increased access to downtown Tulsa for commerce and tourism alike. During World War II (1939 - 1945), Woodward served as headquarters for military forces stationed throughout northeastern Oklahoma including Camp Casey near present day Jenks and Camp Beaumont just south of Guthrie (now Red Springs). During these years many key figures were born or raised here including future Mayor James Meeks (1945 - 1951), General Creighton Abrams (USA Commander Southwest Pacific Area Command 1962 - 1966) who later served as governor (1966 – 1970), Lieutenant Colonel John Wohlgemuth USAF Retired (1970 - 1974) who commanded Air Research Squadron 904 at Tinker AFB before becoming Deputy Director for Plans & Programs Management National Aeronautics & Space Administration Headquarters Washington D C from 1984 until his retirement from government service on October 20th 1989; Lt Col Wohlgemuth played an instrumental role assisting Assistant Secretary Caspar Weinberger during negotiations leading up to America's entry into World War II . Woodward experienced another important milestone during World War II when General Dwight Eisenhower arrived here en route back from Indochina with Operation Overlord which led to Japan's surrender following four months of hard fighting culminating with MacArthur's successful landing at Okinawa on September 15th 1945 marking one major victory after another for U S Forces led by General Eisenhower across Asia Theater
Woodward was founded in 1881 by John A. Woodward, who named it after himself. The town grew rapidly and by 1904 had a population of 1,500. In 1907, Woodward became the capital of Oklahoma Territory. In 1911, the territory was renamed to Oklahoma and Woodward was its new capital. The city experienced rapid growth during the 1930s and 1940s with development in oil production, trucking, farming and other industries. However, World War II led to a decrease in business activity in the city as many residents joined the military. In 1951, Woodward merged with nearby Choctaw City to form Choctaw City-Woodward Municipality.
