At that time, guns were not often transported across state lines so they had to be stored at home. The first gun magazine in Woodward was called the Western Rifleman and it was located on Ewing Boulevard. The Western Rifleman was successful and helped start the tradition ofgun magazines in Woodward. From 1919-1924, there were two other gun magazines in Woodward- the National Rifleman and the Cowboy Club Gun Shop. These three gun magazines helped create a combined print issue for about 150 rifles per month which made it one of the most popular rifle journals in town. From 1924-1934, only one more gun magazine existed in town- the Armoury Pistol & Revolver Magazine which was located on 4th Street near Union Hall. However, this magazine failed within days due to low circulation levels. It is interesting to note that all three of these gun magazines were started by men who loved shooting handguns- Tom Gossett (the President of Armoury Pistol & Revolver Magazine), Glen Rice (President of Western Rifleman Magazine) and Bob Kapp (President of Cowboy Club Gun Shop).

Woodward is a town in Hutchinson County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa-Georgetown-Muskogee, OK Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Post Office has been in operation in Woodward since 1907. Woodward was named for Arthur WOODWARD, a Territorial Governor and Representative from Choctaw Nation. Woodward was originally located on the east side of the Arkansas River and became a town after it was married off to several other towns in Hutchinson County by way of railroads connecting those towns with Wichita and Topeka. In 1907, when Oklahoma became an independent country, Woodward's post office relocated to its current location on North Main Street. The first postmaster general of Oklahoma was General George ELLIS who served from 1910 until 1912; he also served as president of the territorial government that included allOklahoma counties except Choctaw Nation which remained under Indian jurisdiction until 1907. Woodward had two schools when it first received federal funding: one school operated by the US Department of Education (now known as Tinker School District) and one operated by the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company (now known as Union Pacific Railroad). However, these schools were closed during World War I because they did not have enough students; after World War I ended many of these schools reopened but with different curriculums because federal funds were no longer available to support them directly. When statehood occurred in 1907 all public education including private institutions within Indian Territory stopped altogether so that there would be only Native American children attending public schools; this policy continued until 1939 when Indian Affairs regulations changed such that most Native American children now attend white school instead due to their poverty or lack of resources.
