Weatherford is a small town in the extreme southwest corner of Oklahoma, about 25 miles from the Wichita Falls metropolitan area. It has a population of just over 1,500 people and it is home to one of the only shooting ranges in the state. The Weatherford Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in 1903. The club beganRange sessions on October 26th at 8:00 am CST with shotguns only. Range members would meet outside to shoot at 10ft targets using lead rounds. Today there are many different types of firearms available for membership including rifles, pistols, airguns and shotguns. Many range members also participate in sanctioned events such as 4-reinforcement rifle matches or 3-gun events which provide an opportunity to compete against other shooters from across the state.

Today, there are several businesses in Weatherford that operate within the general industry or agricultural sectors: 1) The Harry Hines Hardware Store: Opened in 1907 as an addition to an old blacksmith shop on Main Street South near Fourth Avenue North; today it is one of downtown's oldest and most popular shopping destinations with its extensive collection of antique furniture and hardware items as well as many new implements (pianos, guitars, shotguns). 2) The Central Oklahoma Bank: Opened in 1912 as a branch office of the First National Bank; today it is one of downtown's only remaining commercial buildings dating back to this time period (it served as bank headquarters until 1979). 3) The Pawn Shop: opened in 1906 by Simeon Murchison as what is now known as "The Pawn Shop Warehouse"; it still stands adjacent to Third Street West between Elm and Locust Streets across from Tulsa State University (now Oklahoma State University). 4) The Gresham Brothers Clothing Store: begun business operations September 6th 1888 by Wm., Lewis & John Gresham; closed December 12th 2009 after more than 150 yearscommerce including clothing for both men and women until these days also serving meals during meal hours every day except Sunday morning when they close at 5 PM; currently preserved inside their original building on Third Street West between Elm andLocust Streets across from Tulsa State University along with other historical assets associated with this important local business community
