Weatherford was a small town in the midwest at the time of its incorporation in 1907. The first weather bureau in Weatherford was established on December 5, 1907 by Mayor S.F. Reeves and Dr. C.M. Hamer with an $8,000 budget and four employees. In 1911, the city purchased land from J.E. Pennington to build their first municipal building which still stands today as part of downtown Weatherford's original commercial district . On July 1, 1913, Weatherford became a city with a population of 30 residents
Weatherford, Oklahoma is a small town located in the southeast corner of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, its population was 6,564. It is part of the Muskogee County seat and lies on both banks of the Arkansas River. The community takes its name from Chilton Weatherford, an early settler and munitions manufacturer who donated land for a public school in 1881. The first post office in Weatherford opened in 1885. The town was founded on May 1, 1907 by Wm Fenton and others as Fort Weatherford Damsite to protect settlers against Kiowa Indians who were raiding nearby farms and villages. Today, Fort Weatherford Damsite is a park open to the public that includes a visitor center with exhibits about early weather observations at Warfords Mill Pond and surrounding area; also included are interpretive trails leading to two mill ponds used for water power during the 19th century; & a reconstructed dam built in 1917 which still powers most of town's electrical infrastructure today According to the United States Census Bureau, Weatherford has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all land.

Weatherford is a city in the Oklahoma panhandle, United States. The population was 9,914 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Weatherford County. The community lies along the Arkansas River on the east side of what was once a prairie district of Oklahoma Territory and now part of Tulsa County. In 1881, when Indian Territory was organized into counties, Weatherford became one of four towns in that new county. It located on opposite sides of the Arkansas River from Osage City (now Tulsa) and Independence (now McAlester), both established as Native American villages before becoming towns in their own right. Today's Weatherford is more than simply an outlying settlement: it has become a center for agriculture and industry, hosting a major oil refinery and other manufacturing plants dating back to World War I; significant ranching operations continue today; and its downtown area has been designated by OKC officials as a "Global Village" exemplifying howOKC plans to promote its culture around world visitors. The first white settlers arrived in 1881, when they founded Fort Worth Post Road Station on nearby Pawnee Nation land west of present-day Greenwood Village. That year saw also the arrival of several other families who established homesteads near present-day Wichita Falls before settling down in what would become Weatherford proper - about three miles wide at its widest point - within two years. At that time there were no public schools or churches within town limits; instead residents learned about Christianity through religious services offered by family members or group leaders during buffalo hunts or other outdoor activities common at that time throughout much of Indian Territory. In 1902, after local farmers successfully petitioned Congress for permission to start a oilfield on their land adjacent to Sheridan Dam on the Arkansas River south of town - making Weatherford one of the first U.S.-based crude oil production centers – construction began on what would eventually be known as Shell Oil Company Building #1 (renamed later Park Plaza). This immense petroleum processing plant remains one of OKC's most iconic landmarks today: standing tall atop what had once been an open field surrounding an agricultural village early this century, it now employs more than 2,000 people across multiple functions inside and outside its walls/skywalk/dome complex including engineering support services for energyproduction projects all over Western Oklahoma...
