The history of gun sights in Weatherford, Oklahoma can be traced back to the early 1900s. At that time, this small town was home to many businesses and farmers who depended on guns for their safety and protection. One of the earliest gun sights in Weatherford was a musket sight known as the “Pine Bush”. This musket sight was built by local man, G.H. Pinebeck, in 1892. The “Pine Bush” musket sight consisted of a Sullivan-style iron crosshair pointer with an elevation knob located at the rear of the crosshair. It was used to aim at targets located up to 25 yards away. In 1898, weathervane manufacturer J H Watkins erected a rifle shop and pistol range in what is now known as Richardson Park adjacent to his home. This range included a three-gun turret featuring 14x magnification for use with rifles equipped with adjustable sights (thekrifle). In 1906, Mrs Lillie A Frazier opened her own firearms store in downtown Weatherford and began selling guns through her door. She became wellknown for her excellent customer service and quick turnaround times for orders placed over the phone or online. Her store continued to serve as a main source of firearms supplies for locals until it closed its doors in 1992 after more than 60 years of business!
