Tulsa, Oklahoma is a city in the US state of Oklahoma. The population was 277,217 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tulsa County. The city is located on the Arkansas River in central Tulsa County and is bordered by Tulsa County to the east, Mid-America Regional Airport to the south, and Mayflower Park to the west. The area around present-day Tulsa was first settled by Native Americans in what is now eastern Turkey Creek Township in 1823. The region became part of Indian Territory when that territory was organized into Territorial Kansas in 1846. In 1907, Tulsa was founded as an oil town with processing plants for petroleum products and other goods becoming dominant after development began on Spike Island near downtown. In 1921, it became one of two cities (the other being Wichita) in Oklahoma that were designated as "dry towns" – meaning their drinking water sources did not allow for non-alcoholic beverage sales. During World War II, Tulsa served as an important center for aircraft manufacturing due to its location on I-40 between Chicago and Wichita and its access to major airfields across Texas and Kansas. After the war ended, growth resumed with industrial growth leading to increased traffic congestion on I-40 which led to development of new suburbs such as Shawnee Hills and Jenks which straddled I-40 within Tulsans geographic boundaries

During WWII some companies began releasing monthly issues which helped maintain customer loyalty even during difficult times like rationing.

Tulsa, Oklahoma is the largest city in the Tulsa metropolitan area and one of the fastest-growing cities in America. The city was founded on December 6, 1907 by citizens of the town of Owasso. Tulsa became a municipality on November 3, 1907. The first post office opened in Tulsa on January 5, 1908. In 1912, Tulsa established its own public school district. On July 16, 1916, Tulsa Municipal Court was organized and on October 1, 1916 the first municipal election was held. The city's first mayor was George Goodridge. The City Council added an additional seat in 1919 to meet their needs for local government growth. In 1930 Oklahoma Senate District No 2 shifted from Indian Territory to Tulsa so that it could be represented more effectively by its newly elected politician John Purdy as well as other members of the new state senate delegation which opposed annexation by Texas during that decade due to land issues within Indian Territory at that time). The Second World War interrupted much progress made since before WWII while Oklahoma war efforts were ongoing; however following World War II many new buildings were constructed such as Mercy Hospital and State Fair Park (now Convention Center) which would become integral parts of downtown Tulsa throughout the 1970s through 1990s when downtown development resumed after prohibition ended with passage of Amendment 21 back in 1976
