The city’s population total reached 100,000 residents by 1990 but has since decreased to around 80,000 residents today due to loss of jobs in the area surrounding OKC thanks to heavy industry consolidation over the past few decades. However, there are still many businesses that remain open within walking distance or even inside OKC itself despite these losses; this is likely because economic development outside OKC often leads to job relocation withinOKC (a phenomena known as “the Oklahoman effect”). In recent years there have been efforts made by both Mayor Jeff Longmire and City Councilmember Byron Cook to reverse some aspects of this trend– particularly gentrification near downtown – but progress seems slow given how far removed from any real economic opportunities people actually are (particularly outside OKC). Despite all these challenges though Tahlequah remains one of America's most vibrant cities with rich cultural traditions dating back centuries that continue to touch lives here today

In addition to its daytime activities such as shopping malls and recreation areas located throughout downtown Tahlequah, nightlife also thrives with several bars and clubs available within walking distance or minutes away from the community center.
Tahlequah is located in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. The town was founded by white settlers in 1879. It became a municipality in 1907 and was named for Confederate General John C. Smith.
