Shawnee Shooting Targets first opened in the early 1920s. The Shawnee shooting range was originally located on County Road 10 near the current location of the Shawnee Firearms Annex. In 1951, The Shawnee Rifle Range merged with the Wichita Shooting Association to form Wichita Shooters Association (WSA). On July 1, 1962, WSA merged with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to become an NSSF member club. In 1990, NSSF sold its membership interest in Wichita Shooters Association to Farris Arms Manufacturing Company for $2 million dollars. After a period of growth and expansion at Farris Arms Manufacturing Company’s new facility in downtown Shawnee, Shoots took up permanent residence there in 1994 after being displaced by Mid-America Sportsmen's Supply at that same address since 1978.
The Shawnee people are a Native American tribe that resides in and around the city of Shawnee, Oklahoma. The Shawnee tribe has lived in the area for over three centuries and their traditional way of life is based on hunting, fishing, and trapping. Today, the Shawnee Tribe operates a reservation in eastern Oklahoma. The Shawnee Nation was organized on November 2, 1828 by Chief Little Turtle. The tribe had been living together since at least 1736. In 1907, the tribe acquired land east of present day Shawnee to establish its reservation. The reservation covers an area that is now divided between Tulsa County and Osage County. Today, the ShawnEE Tribe has over 2,000 members who live on four reservations: Anadarko (in northeastern Oklahoma), Delaware (in northwestern Kansas), Ottawa (near Wichita), and Pawnee (southwest Kansas). Each tribal membership entitles someone to claim up to 10 acres of land each year Sunrise fishing season begins in late May and ends early September After sunrise only artesian wells may be used for drinking or cooking water but no other plumbing may be done No building more than two stories high allowed except for Chiefs house A fire must always be kept burning inside any houses even if it’s just an open flame Utensils cannot be carried outside without first being cooked with No hunting or gathering allowed during special mourning periods This severe limitation was put into place because Chief Little Turtle believed that such activities would bring bad luck If people violated these rules they risked being ostracized from their community as well as having their property confiscated

The Shawnee tribe is an Oklahoma Indian tribe. The Shawnee Tribe was organized on September 26, 1821 and the first president was George Armstrong Custer. The tribe had a population of 1,200 in 1907. The Shawnee Tribe today has around 350 members living in 10 reservations located in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Arkansas. They are also recognized as a federally recognized tribe by the US Department of Education. The history of the Shawnee Tribe goes back to 1821 when five young men from Ohio led by Chief Tecumseh rebelled against British rule and set up their own government on the banks of the Missouri River. In 1825, they were driven out of their home territory by American forces under General Andrew Jackson and founded what is now the Shawnee Nation east of the Great Plains along with other Creek tribes who had sided with Jackson. In 1907, there were just over 1,200 members living on 10 reservations scattered across Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Arkansas - all but one which were under federal jurisdiction due to Treaty #8 which ceded most of these territories to America following Franco-American War (1868-1871). Despite this jurisdictional juggling act though; each reservation felt its own unique culture and identity that survived until 1975 when all ten reservations united under Oneida Lake Corporation as part of Executive Order 3307 creating what is now known as the Shawnee Nation Tribal Council (OSTC) system - a model for tribal self-government that still exists today.
On January 6, 1847, Shawnee was founded by a party of warriors from the Creek Nation. The town grew quickly and soon became one of the most important communities on the American frontier. In 1854, Shawnee was chosen as the site for the first territorial capital of Oklahoma. It remained this spot until 1907 when Oklahoma City was established.
