However these attempts have generally not succeeded despite various investments(such as major renovations/restructuring done throughout late 2000s & 2010s..), significant public opposition(particularly relatedto gentrification fears among some residents who feel they have lost their cultural roots while others see it primarilyas an opportunityfor retail development rather than revitalization.),and lacklustre economic results..
