They built a log cabin and began farming the land around it. A post office was established in 1886, and by 1890, Sapulpa had a population of about seventy people. The first school was built in 1889 and operated for one year before being closed due to lack of money. In 1893, an extension building was built for the new school that lasted until 1903 when another new school was constructed nearby which continued to serve as the primary school until 1907 when it burned down. The second store opened in 1901 and served as the nucleus of what would become Sapulpa's commercial center over time. By 1910, there were four stores in Sapulpa with eighty-one employees total. There are still three businesses left today that operate within the town limits: two general stores, one gas station/convenience store, and one restaurant/cafeteria complex called 'The Depot'. In 1916,Oklahoma statehood occurred and soon after there appeared on local paper an advertisement for annexation by Oklahoma City effective November 16th 1916 The townsfolk ratified annexation on December 3rd 1916 minutes after reading an ordinance providing for such action . On January 11th 1917 their first mayor Wm Henson resigned effective January 6th 1917 due to ill health On February 4th 1917 Ada Senter became mayor pro tem replacing Henson Mayor Senter retired effective May 15th 2017 after serving twenty years

Hardesty settled in what is now Sapulpa after purchasing 640 acres (248 hectares) of land from the Creek Nation for $5 per acre ($2/km²). The Hardestys were among the first settlers in what would become Seminole County and soon became leaders in the community. In 1886, they married Margaret Churchwell and moved to Sapulpa which had then only a handful of residents. By 1890, Sapulpa had a school, Baptist church and two stores. After a fire destroyed their home on May 25th of that year, theHardestys built another home on their remaining land which still stands today as a contributing structure to sapulpas history museum called "The Good House". During World War II, Sapulpa played an important role as an airfield servicing Tulsa with Boeing B-47 bombers during the war's early stages. The airfield also hosted other military activities such as training camps for pilots from all over America during this time period before it closed its doors permanently following Japan's surrender in 1945. Today Sapulpa continues to experience growth due to its status as an agricultural center with many businesses operating within its borders including several grocery stores as well as carnivals and rodeos taking place throughout the year; making it one oflargest living communities in OKLAHOMA!
