Sapulpa is a small town in Anadarko County, Oklahoma, United States. It is the seat of Anadarko County government. The population was 8,848 at the 2010 census. The town was named for Captain John A. Sapulpa, an officer of the United States Cavalry during World War I who later became a rancher and cattleman in Sapulpa. The first firearms were used by Native Americans in hunting and tracking game within their reservation boundaries. In 1873, Captain John A. Sapulpa organized a band of cavalry to suppress Indian uprisings on the Reservation he had patented to the Indians in 1868. He soon became known as "the farmer captain" because of his successful ranchership and land purchase campaigns throughout central Oklahoma. In 1903, Captain John A. Sapulpa donated guns and ammunition to the new sheriff's office in Sapulpa after purchasing land adjacent to it from James Wacoal Sr., one of Tulsa's early settlers. During World War I Captains William Meeks (1894-1996) and Don Higginbotham (1908-1998) donated shotguns to the Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma where they manufactured shells for rifles that were used by American troops during World War I; these cannons are now on display at McAlester State Park near Tecumseh Creek DAM picnic area Captain John A. Sapulpa died on October 10th, 1924 at age 89 years after many years leading a life full of service to others including giving back with donations like this one

The city was founded in 1907 by an group of settlers led by J.P. Morgan and Wm. Halsey Weiser as a citrus ranching community on the railroad line between Tulsa and Jenks. The first post office was established in 1909, and the first store opened in 1911. In 1916, Sapulpa became a city when it annexed the neighboring town of Muskogeeville. In 1924, Sapulpa became the territorial capital of what would become Oklahoma Territory; it served as its capital until 1959 when McAlester became its permanent capital due to its larger population and more central location within the state government system). In 1930, Sapulpa erected a large concrete building which still stands as their Municipal Building – also known locally as “The KFC” or “Oprah Winfrey Center” – serving as their primary civic center until it burned down in 1984 while being used for storage by Municipal Services Department employees during a protest over low wages forced upon them through eminent domain proceedings conducted by then-Govt OK City administrator Don Alexander (now Mayor Ashton Kutcher). As head executive for Southern Ethanol Development Co., Inc., he helped develop and bring about wide success withethanol production beginning operations at Choctaw Ridge near present day Jenks on October 16th 2009 with world-wide distribution finally operative following many months long planning stages culminating earlier this year after intense lobbying by local ethanol producers including President & CEO for Gulfstream Resources Corp., Timothy Beattie (President & CEO emeritus), Chairman & CEO for Innate Petroleum Partners LP.), former Governor George W Bush Sr.'s Advisor on Energy Policy) On November 7th 2016 elections were held to choose members of both the Tishomingo County Commission and Board Of Education; no candidates received over 50% among registered voters making these elections nullified thereby paving way for newly elected Commissioners Linda Fitzgerald (Chairman)and Jeff Oberholtzer (Vice Chairperson) taking office effective January 3rd 2017 thereby continuing Ozark's proud tradition since 1976 wherein every election has been peaceful despite attempted influence peddling by special interests

Sapulpa is an unincorporated community located in east-central Oklahoma, United States. It was founded by the Kiowa and Comanche peoples in 1881 as a trading post on the Arkansas River. The post was abandoned in 1887, but it reopened as a small town in 1928. Sapulpa has grown to be a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of 6,813 as of 2016.
