In 1937-38, sandstone blocks for the Oklahoma State Capitol were being produced and soon after that, concrete became available for building projects inSand Springs. The city of Tulsa boom started around this time as well (1938-1945). At this point in time, Tulsa had become one of America’s leading cities with its booming economy. The growth of Tulsa didn’t stop though; instead it continued to grow even further as businesses moved into new areas such as Rubber City (now part of Tulsa) and Edmondson Heights (later renamed “Albany Hills”). As businesses boomed during this period in Sand Springs history, so too did crime rates – which is why law enforcement officials decided to build their own jail near downtown in 1939.
