The stream was named for an Indian chief who had a summer home there. American soldiers who were stationed in Fort Gibson during World War II named one of their tanks "Buffalo Soldier." This tank's crewname came from a nickname given to them by local residents because they looked like buffalo cows and did not have horns on their heads. The first store in Sand Springs opened its doors on October 15, 1881, when Elisha Purdy and his family bought three acres (1 km²) of land east of what is now Main Street for $300 cash. They built a log cabin, called White Sands, which served as their business headquarters until 1912 when they moved to what is now First Avenue and Second Street. In 1907, Jens Jensen established A/C Blowers & Heaters near present day Fourth Street and Business Avenue; this became Sand Springs' first industry and helped make the town prosperous during its early years – it still operates as an Independent company today! Jens also played an important role in helping shape the community's skyline with his construction projects that include both Old Town Square (now downtown) and Adobe Walls (present day US Highway 90). In 1916, Drury WOODWALKER purchased 8 acres (3 hectares) west of Main Street from Jacob KELLY for $5 per acre ($100 total). Woodwalker developed Buxton Mills which included a grocery store/diner, blacksmith shop/shoe stores etc., until it closed in 1984 due to economic difficulties…. Prior to that time only single family homes were built hereabouts; however these days structures may be found dating back to the mid 1800s along 3rd street including: An old mill building known as “Pinecrest” which still stands today having been completely renovated inside and out over the past few years including new ceilings, walls & flooring….. Additionally 2 other buildings located just south side 3rd St from Mill are also currently being restored complete with all new floors & ceilings!

This pistol quickly became one of America’s favorite firearms due its simplicity and ease of use; it still remains one of today’s most popular pistols! After years of legal battles between Colt and government prosecutors (mainly due to restrictive legislation placed in place during prohibition), Colt eventually won his battle with regulation in 1905. The following year he released his Model 9 handgun which featured an interlocking safety system permitting multiple shots per clip instead of just one shot per round like earlier pistols. It was founded in 1907 by people who came from surrounding areas of the Kansas Territory. The town was named for the sand dunes that can be seen near the town. The first post office in Sand Springs opened on December 15, 1907. The townsite was patented on February 8, 1908 by A.H. Haskell and renamed after Lieutenant Colonel John Wickersham (1853-1928), who served as commanding officer of District No. 5 of the Cavalry Division during World War I and later became mayor of Tulsa City Limitships. In 1916, General Hugh JethroGrant died in action during World War I and his widow donated land to Sand Springs for a public park which remains today as Central Park
