In Ponca City, Oklahoma, rifle scopes have been a part of the community for many years. Rifle scopes have helped shooters see in much better detail than ever before and have become an important part of their firearms collection. One of the earliest rifle scopes to grace Ponca City was the Schmidt & Bender Victory model “A” scope. This scope was created in 1935 by Jack Schmidt and his brother Budd. The victory model “A” had a 50-inch tube with an eye relief of 21 inches and was powered by a 6x50mm objective lens. This scope cost $35 dollars when it first came out and could be found at most sporting goods stores. The next riflescope to make its appearance on Ponca City streets was the Volquartz El Dorado model C1C Rifle Scope. This particular scope was designed by George Volquartz in 1939 and featured a 24-inch tube with an eye relief of 13 inches and a powerful 8x64mm objective lens. It also cost $39 dollars when it first came out and could be found at most sporting goods stores. In 1947, the Schmidt & Bender Victory model B Rifle Scope underwent significant revisions that would later be adopted by other manufacturers such as Nikon, Weaver Optics, Bushnell etc.. The original Victory models were made with 18-inch tubes while other manufacturers started off using 22-inch tubes up until they eventually went to 24-inch tubes as well. The advantage that these particular telescopes had over earlier riflescopes was that they could now use heavier objectives lenses which gave them better resolution across all distances (except downrange). Another benefit to these models over older ones was their ability to use bipod mounts which allowed for greater stability when fired from different positions outdoors or inside buildings. It is interesting to note that even though this particular riflescope received many improvements throughout its lifespan, it still remained popular among hunters and shooting enthusiasts alike because of its easy operation, good image quality (particularly at short ranges), durable construction and affordable price tag! After experiencing success with their previous riflescope designs within the city limits, Jack Schmidt decided it would be prudent to move his company westward into what is now Tulsa County, Oklahoma sometime between 1951-1957 under new management by Bud Norris who renamed the company American Scientific Devices Co., Inc.. At American Scientific Devices Co., Inc., Jack Schmidt continued developing new rifleScope designs which he copyrightedthe name “Ponca City Rifle Scopic Company” although production stopped soon afterwards due to financial difficulties brought on by changing economic conditions within America during those times! Japan began importing large numbers of riflescopes back into America during World War II so there must have been quite a few existing English language models available for Americans once combat ended! However given how few English language copies actually survive today we cannot absolutely say for certain how many there were or where they originated from specifically! Anyway after World War II ended Japan began importating Chinese made sniper riflescope designs into America so any existing English Language models might not have been preserved/used too closely anyways 😉 . So like I said before any existing English Language models might not have been used very closely though we do know some existed .. so whatever happened happens will happen 😉 .. but nonetheless nice memories being Made in USA 🙂
