In 1965 Oklahoma joined the United States government under President Lyndon B Johnson which meant more jobs for Oklahomans and more money available for citizens to spend; this led to increased development throughout eastern Oklahoma because construction could now be done without fear of food riots like had occurred during previous rounds of political change in that state.
