Gun Parts History in Ponca City, Oklahoma In the early 1800s, Ponca City was a small frontier town located on the edge of what is now Tulsa County. The area that includes Ponca City and its surrounding rural areas was first settled by Native Americans in the region during the 18th century. The first European to visit the area was Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1541. Soto named this region “Ponca” for a Shawnee word meaning danger or hazard. In 1795, Indian trader James Kenedy arrived in the area and began trading with the local Ojibwe tribe. With new trade opportunities opening up, Kenedy founded a ranch near present-day Ponca City in 1807. In 1824, after hearing about land grants being offered for sale near modern-day Tulsa, Don Carlos Buell decided to settle in this section of Tulsa County. He purchased over 1,000 acres of land at what is now corner of Arkansas Avenue and 16th Street South from Fenton Robinson. As part of his purchase, Buell agreed to build a courthouse and other infrastructure necessary for settlers to live and work on his new holdings. Buell's ranch quickly became one of the most important commercial centers within eastern Oklahoma Territory during the 1830s and 1840s. By 1847, Buell had developed an extensive cotton gin operation on his plantation west of Ponca City that produced some 100 million pounds (45 million kg) of cotton annually. The success of Buell’s business led him to invest heavily into railroad development throughout east Texas and Kansas during this time period as well – making him one of the early leaders in Texas industrial growth outside Mexico during this era. Despite these successes, personal finances started deteriorating for Buell around 1850 when he lost interest in all but small-scale cotton farming operations within east Texas and Kansas; instead concentrating his efforts on railroads development and other investments which ultimately failed due to high costs associated with such ventures outside East Texas/Kansas marketability at that time zone). In 1861, following Diem’s decision not to recognize Oklahoma as an independent state upon its admission into OKC as part ofOKlahoma Statute 11 §2(a), assets remaining unspent from earlier railroads investments were sold off by Buell along with other unsuccessful business ventures including cattle raising interests withinOklahoma Territory while also investing heavily into oil exploration operations later THAT decade – leading directly to collapse & bankruptcy OF HIS BUSINESS BY 1865 despite large profits previously enjoyed therefrom previous year).
