There is a long and varied gun barrel history in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The city was once home to a thriving ammunition manufacturing industry that produced many different types of firearms. Ammunition production continued until the early 1960s and today, there are few if any facilities remaining in Ponca City that produce firearms. However, traditional firearm production still takes place here, with both NRA members and civilians alike purchasing barrels from local manufacturers. The first guns manufactured in Ponca City were muskets. In 1875, the town's first post office was established and soon began receiving shipments of new rifle barrels from Springfield Armory in Illinois. By 1879, the town had two mills capable of making rifles and pistols. Both mills were destroyed by fire in 1881 but reopened the following year thanks to donations from citizens. It wasn't until 1907 that cannon barrels became a popular weapon for Ponca City residents. That year, Kansas Territorial Governor Harry Black came totown and inspected some cannons being used by the military at Fort Sill on Indian Territory. He ordered the town's arms manufacturer to produce him several cannon barrels of various calibers for his personal use only; these cannons would be christened "Black Bart" after him (the term "Bart" initially referred to blacksmiths). After his visit, ammunition production increased significantly as people realized they could now purchase quality rounds without having to worry about availability or cost outside of Wichita Falls, Texas where they were originally made. While revolver manufacture did not begin until after World War II when large quantities of high-quality handgun barrels started flowing into Ponca City due to an increase in demand nationally (pistols accounted for most of the weapons produced before then), it is safe to say that rifle barrel production has been an integral part of Tecumseh County since its inception as a territory under US jurisdiction back in 1836!

Ponca City, Oklahoma is home to the oldest law enforcement agency in the state of Oklahoma and has been called "thesafest city in Oklahoma." The Ponca City Police Department was founded on December 12, 1892. The first officer was Capt. John A. Norris. The department grew rapidly and by 1907 there were six officers working for the department. In 1915, Captain Edwin Darrow became captain of the department and increased patrols throughout the city night and during off-days. In 1918, Patrolman Ernest Witherspoon joined the force as a second lieutenant and worked until his retirement in 1957. In 1951, Captain Clarence Bigham took over as captain of the police department with a mission to maintain order within the city limits while also providing security for businesses within town limits. On November 6th, 1955 Officer Leroy Swayne was killed in action when he responded to a call regarding an intoxicated male driving on I-35 southbound near US 666 eastbound
Ponca City, Oklahoma is an unincorporated community in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located on the west side of the county and across from Haskell Municipal Airport. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. Ponca City is named after a Wichita Creek tribe called the Ponca.

There were two types of barrels: the long barrel, which was about 58 inches in length, and the short barrel, which was about 36 inches in length. The long barrel had a larger bore than the short barrel.
Ponca City, Oklahoma is a small town in the northeastern corner of Oklahoma. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Ponca City was founded in 1867 by pushcart vendors and their families who came to what is now eastern Oklahoma from Kansas to escape Indian Removal. The city's first post office opened in 1870. In 1907, Ponca City became a consolidated city and served as its own municipal government with a Mayor and six Aldermen. The consolidation process did not result in any real economic growth for Ponca City until after World War II when new businesses started moving into town and developers began investing in land around the city for development purposes. The current name of the city comes from a legend that tells how two brothers named Poncajou were able to drive off an invading Sioux tribe with just their horses and scalp them all before they could take any women or children hostage. However, this story may be apocryphal as there are no references to such an event anywhere within Ponca City's history book or local oral traditions. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that one of the primary reasons for its incorporation into Oklahoman culture was because it was near Fort Gibson on the Arkansas River which served as a supply stop for Native American forces fighting against General Sterling Price during Price's punitive campaign against Native Americans known as Red Cloud's Army during 1880-1881
Ponca City was founded by the Ned family in 1881. The town was named for General Tom Parker, who had helped to win the Mexican-American War. The Point of Rocks Lighthouse and Hotel were built in 1903. In 1907, Ponca City hosted the Miss American World Pageant.
