In 1892, an American scientist named Adolphus Cline patented a design for an airgun that used compressed air to fire a projectile. He called it the Cline Rifle. The first successful tests of this new device were made in 1893.
Ponca City was founded in 1907 by the Choctaw Nation and is one of the oldest cities in Oklahoma. The city was named for Ponca, a chief of the Creek Nation.
