Within a few months, they had organized themselves into a knife club and began to purchase knives from Local dealers. In 1912, theknife club purchased their first knife forge and began to produce their own knives. In 1916 they married Etta Mae Brown who became the president of the club and helped promoteKnives as an important part of American culture. Theclub continued to produce knives until 1951 when it disbanded due to lack of members or resources

The first post office in Owasso was established on October 1, 1912. In 1918, the railway line between Tulsa and McAlester was extended to Owasso and as a result, OWASSO became an important transportation center for the region. The Owasso Daily Oklahoman newspaper began publication in 1923 and continued until its closure in 1996. There are several museums located in or aroundOWASSO including the old Masonic Temple which is now the OU Outstanding Course Hotel; the Oklahoma Historical Society’s Museum of Western History; and the Oral Roberts University Library which contains many significant owassoiana items from before 1900.
Owasso was founded in 1868 by pioneers James and Fannie Owasso. The Owassos were the first white people to settle in the area, and they began trading with the local Seminole tribe. In 1873, they built a log cabin on what is now Owasso Creek. The Owassos continued to live there until their death in 1905.
