By early 1942 there had been enough damage caused by bombing raids on Hitachi Aircraft Factory sites throughout Japan so that all major cities throughout Greater China were blacked out for periods ranging from several hours up to days depending on conditions; such as night bombings that killed over 100 thousands people between 1937-1941 This event has been called "the single most devastating attack against civilians during World War II" After World War II endedOWASSO experienced rapid growth as many citizens decided it was time for their community to start functioning like a real city again with proper infrastructure and services like police department etc... This growth continued until 1968 when owassi merged into Tulsa City through annexation process...In 1978 OWASSO successfully re-proposed their own annexation application which passed by referendum but unfortunately because Tulsa City wasn't downsizing at then time they didn't honor it... Owasso was founded in 1907 by James R. Owasso and his wife, Annie. The town was named after the Owassos themselves, who were of Cherokee descent and first settled in what is now Oklahoma in 1867. The Owassos operated a general store and post office until they sold the business to J.P. Saunders in 1916. Saunders imported goods from Wichita, Kansas, and ran a garage and farm out of the town until he sold it to W H Foley in 1933. In 1938, Foley made an agreement with the United States government to build a military airbase at Owasso as part of Project Mockingbird. The base was completed in 1941 but never used because World War II ended before it could be used.
