Hardy with a population of five residents. 1st Cavalry Regiment under General Edwin Vann attacked Indian village near present day Owasso on November 25th 1881 while detachment from 1st Cavalry Regiment led by Colonel James Ketchum were encamped nearby; as result many loss including 1 officer and 11 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded & 8 officers & private soldiers missing presumed dead; this event helped start long term friction between white settlers and Native Americans which would culminate in clashes such as the Battle of Black Mesa October 14-16 1889
