In 1933, a new optical building was erected on 15th Street between Vine and Washington Streets in downtown Okmulgee. The building is now used as a bank branch. In 1945, William L. Schmidt opened an optometrist office at 515 S Broadway in Tulsa, which became the largest optometric business in Oklahoma until it closed in 1984.

Later that year, Onslow County was organized from part of Tulsa County with same boundaries as present day Hillcrest District – east side of Cimarron River including parts of towns such as Jenks and McAlester – whilePresent day Okmulgee Creek formed a boundary between Onslow and Sacatonie Counties north of current city limits
