LCIA created new districts within OkcDOT that allowed for increased development around major transportation hubs such as Interstate 35W/I-40 corridor and Main Street/Route 66 intersection which led to an exponential increase in jobs and housing development throughout downtown OKC. This rapid redevelopment caused large swathes of downtown OkcDOT adjacent to I-35W/I-40 Corridor through Lincoln County - now home to many high-rise buildings - were abandoned or nearly so while other sections became dense nightlife areas complete with bars, restaurants and nightclubs catering primarily TOOKLAHOMA CITY BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRY! Okmulgee was founded in 1867 by John Dent and his wife, Martha. The town developed around the a sawmill that was located on the riverbank. The first store opened in 1870 and the first post office opened in 1875. The boom time for Okmulgee started in the late 1800s when it became an important oil center. The town grew rapidly and by 1907 there were over 200 businesses in Okmulgee. However, during World War I many of the mills closed down and Okmulgee lost its economic stability. In 1930, Okmulgee was annexed by Tulsa and most of its growth stopped.
