Okmulgee is a city in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 10,826 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Okmulgee County. The city is named after Chief Okmulgee and his tribe. The area that now forms Okmulgee was first settled by the Wichita people in 1836. In 1868, the Cherokee Nation agreed to sell land to the US government for $10 per acre. The site of present-day Okmulgee was chosen for its similarity to Choctaw Nation's Choctaw Hills reservation in Alabama. A railroad line ran through the area and construction began on August 29, 1870, making it one of the first towns in Indian Territory. The townspeople set about building their homes and businesses during what was called "the boomtown period." They imported tools and other materials from Kansas City and other cities during this time; many of these products are still found today in the downtown district of Okmulgee. After several years of growth and development, however, business began to decline in early 1880s due to an increase in railroads being built around Tulsa instead of into Indian Territory as planned. In 1886, Oklahoma statehood was granted to Indian Territory; as a result, most towns within Indian Territor y became part of Oklahoma when it joined that state.. However, Okmulgee remained unincorporated until 1907 when it incorporated as a city under OKC law #27-1-1010 based on its location within Indian Territory at that time.. Oklahoma designated a portion of its east side as Native American Park which contains cultural attractions related to the culture including petroglyphs discovered there between 1904-1907 by members from Pawnee National Historical Park study team led by Drury Cushing (1849-1925) As part of OKC's effort To Renew Downtown McAlester neighborhood initiative initiated in late 2005/2006 oklahoma City officials partnered with local developers - Gracie Companies - who developed several mixed use projects near downtown McAlester - Phase One includes: a new medical center & office park adjacent to IMAX theater complex; 2 new skyscrapers next door – One tower over 50 stories tall – anchored by Loews hotel; 1 million sq ft retail mall anchor tenant ; 100K square foot fitness center & spa ; 1 block south along I-40 suicide belt road off major thoroughfare will be apartment communities developments with outdoor pools designed specifically for residences

However, their legacy will live on through products like their Stryker I rifle which continues to be produced today under different names including Jericho II (a US military specification), Alpha Bravo (commercial/industrial) and even Heckler & Koch HK416 rifles (which are still being produced today).
