Norma and her husband, Norman, have been living in Norman, Oklahoma for over twenty years. They are natives of the state and first settled there in the late 1960s when Norma was pregnant with their first child. The couple has two children and five grandchildren. Norma is a retired elementary school teacher and has worked at the same school for forty-seven years. She is an active member of her community and enjoys spending time volunteering at local churches or giving back to her community by donating money to charity. Norman is a proud Oklahoman who has always strived to be his own man and contribute positively to his community. He served in the military during World War II as a lieutenant colonel and later became a police officer in Norman. After retiring from the police force, he began working as an insurance salesman until he met Norma. They married in 1984 and have since raised four children together: sons Scott (born 1985), Randy (born 1987), Kendal (born 1991) and Jamie (born 2003). Norman’s career choices reflect his values of hard work, dedication, family involvement, personal responsibility, service to others,ineducation through hands-on experience/practices, self-reliance/independence and patriotism. He is an Assemblageman First Class with many honors including being named one of “The Top 50 Chiefs Who Served Oklahoma County” by OKC Magazine in 2002; recipient of the prestigious Central States Law Foundation Award for excellence as an assistant district attorney; selection as one of Tulsa’s “20 Under 40” laureates; recipient of numerous awards from various organizations such as The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professional Responsibility; inclusion on several lists compiled by Forbes magazine including “The Most Powerful Lawyers In America” list published in 2009; selection as one of Tulsa's "Top 25" entrepreneurs under 35 year old leadership; elected Vice President -222nd Judicial District Court -Oklahoma City metropolitan area in 2013 after serving two terms as Mayor pro tempore during Kevin Costner's term; chairperson committee on jailed criminals & gang members for chamber of commerce Norma started teaching when she was eighteen years old after being inspired by her superintendent at her previous school to pursue a career that would make a difference in someone else’s life. A few years later she decided that she wanted to become an Elementary School Teacher so that she could help people learn more about democracy rather than just teach kids how to read newspapers like most other teachers do today! In addition to teaching herself what all went into making good education decisions then picking students off the street corner for public schools across America– norman also learned how important it was never give up no matter what happened because you had fought before!!! That motto still applies today regardless if its something small like buying groceries at Walmart or helping somebody out big time while they are stuck behind bars cause society tells us not too!!!!!! Norma continues this great example everyday even now when its parenting time!!!
