A new courthouse was built in 1915-16 and named after Judge John Bunning – one of Oklahoma’s most distinguished jurists during World War I and later president pro tempore of the United States Senate. The old courthouse burned down in 1951; rebuilt with federal funds they opened in 1957 as the Tarrant County Courthouse Annex; then moved to their present location in 1990 following renovation/upkeep costing $24 million dollars ($ when adjusted for inflation). As one result of economic downturn experienced throughout much of 2007-2009 particularly due to global recession - local business owners closed their doors February 10th 2009 becoming “nearly dormant” until January 1st 2010 when rains caused field repairs necessary for use during football season re-opened several businesses with increased sales occasioning job growth not resulting from government stimulus efforts which have failed again this year - starting January 2nd 2010 more than 50 locally owned businesses are open with average monthly sales over $1K

This was due to its location at the crossingroads for several wagon trains passing through the area each day. 3) The early years of Norman’s growth were relatively difficult because there were only a few tentative investors interested in developing this small town at that time. However, over time, encouragements from business leaders led to increased development and growth within the limits set by their permits from local authorities. 4) By 1920, when Normans municipal boundaries expanded eastward into Jackson County (then known as Noble County), its population had swelled to over 100 people living primarily in downtown areas along Third Street between Market and High Streets (now Gaylord Avenue). 5) Continued growth led to additional buildings being erected throughout downtown during these years – including what is now City Hall which opened on October 12th, 1924! Today, that building is still Orange Street’s primary source of civic pride!
