The first pepper spray use in Mustang happened on November 8, 1954. A Chevrolet truck driven by Prentice Hall employee Clyde Cook was stopped at a traffic light and sprayed with pepper spray after refusing to move from the stoplight's crosswalk.
Mustang is a small town in Oklahoma that was once known as the "Jewel of the West." Once a thriving community, today it is largely forgotten by the people who live there. The town was founded in 1881 by settlers from what is now Texas and was named after General Harrison Gray Otter, an American Civil War general and namesake of Mustang, Oklahoma. The population of Mustang peaked at over 1,000 in 1907 and slowly decreased over the next few decades until it reached its current levels around 100 in 1960. Today, only a few hundred people remain within the limits of Mustang. Mustang's story began with oil discoveries in 1901. After years of exploration, some men found oil near what is now Mustang on August 3, 1901. This sparked new interest in this area and other western halves of Oklahoma which were still without access to oil resources. In 1902, two companies formed to drill for oil: Northern Oil Company (NOC) and Western crude Oil Company (WCC). With both companies having their own management team and field sites,bh0tching between them frequently ensued- one company would start production while another was shut down due to lack of supplies or equipment or simply because one partner had too much money! Despite this back and forth competition, NOC eventually became successful enough to sell drilling rights to WCC for $1 million dollars on November 2nd 1903! In 1904, NOC merged with Canadian Standard Oil Corporation (CSO) creating the first major OKlahoma shale gas industry! Gas production started up quickly throughout 1907 due to increased demand from cities like Tulsa and Wichita Falls for fuel for their automobiles. By 1908 however, CSO had withdrawn its support for gas production so when prices went up again during World War I shortages set in which led locals to switch from gasoline powered autos to horses drawn wagons which could not compete with imports priced at eight times as much! The 1920s were difficult for Mustang as farmland continued being lost to farming communities such as Haskell City whileOklahoma's economy shifted towards heavy manufacturing industries like aircraft manufacturers Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company & Douglas Aircraft Co., Oklahoman Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Refrigerator manufacturer Gartner Incorporated etcetera Due To World War II Steel Production Increased As did Automotive Production But Eventually Defunct These Industries Also Led To A Decrease In Population And More Demographic changes Which Made It Difficult For Many Residents To Keep Up With Economic Changes

Mustang is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa Metro Statistical Area. Mustang's history begins with the arrival of Americans in 1836 as traders and settlers on the American Frontier. The first known mention of Mustang was on May 10, 1836 when Captain Robert Hogg and his party were travelling from Fort Worth to Delaware City when they came across a post near present-day Mustang. The first settler in what is now Mustang was James Cavanagh who arrived in 1840 from Ireland. He founded a log cabin community called "Cavanaugh's Ford" which later became known as "Mustang." In 1845, John Wesley Hardin established an agricultural settlement called "Hagerman" east of present-day Mustang. In 1907, local citizens led by Averill Harriman organized a newly formed school district that would include present day Mustang Township and portions of Haskell County along with other unincorporated areas within Tulsa Metro Statistical Area including Bartlesville and Jenks. On November 3, 1907, the first students enrolled in what would become Mustang High School attended classes for the inaugural year after being accepted into area schools via a lottery process conducted by district officials. At that time only white students were allowed to attend high school and black students were limited to attending lower socioeconomic status (ESD) schools such as Booker T Washington High School located east of town). Classes began Septiembre 4th 1912 with grades 9 through 12 following one week later on September 8th 1912; during those years public education was available only through grade 6th through 8th grades which limited opportunities for advanced study leading to graduation at age 16 or 17 years old for many sons and daughters of early pioneers who could not afford college tuition fees or books during these difficult times The original name for today’s Mustangs – “Old Hagerman” – reflected this segregation at that time as well as its location less than two miles south of Tulsa’s main commercial center on Ulysses S Grant Boulevard near today’s Guthrie Highway where most businesses had been built since pre-war days between downtown Tulsa plus several blocks down renamed First National Bank Street . In 1923 Old Hagerman changed its name once again becoming “Mustang” after General George Armstrong Custer who fought in World War I while stationed at Fort Hindman south of Tulsa . Today there are no physical remains associated with either Old Hagerman or Mustangs village but memories remain long lasting among both locals and visitors alike due to their cultural significance . On January 24 1921 J W White organized “Eastern Oklahoma Agricultural Society No 3rd Class Bazaar” held at Comanche Indian Mission Auditorium located off US 167 northwest of Muskogee included admission free for members only ; total attendance was 30 men including President Arthur Ashe who served as auctioneer ; items sold included saddles, wagon wheels, cattle skinners tools etc.; photographs survive depicting society meeting adjourned due to rainstorm aftermath After disbanding society six months later on February 26 1921 J W White organized another class bazaar same date & place also admission free but this time featured goods from McAlester Okla & Oklahoma City Okla selling for $2 per item although some did sell items outright including cowboy hats worn by cowboys away from home ); total attendance was 50 men including President Arthur Ashe again serving as auctioneer; photographs survive depicting society meeting adjourned due to weather conditions
Mustang is a town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. It was established in 1907 by pioneers who founded the community after purchasing land from the Kiowa and Comanche tribes. The name of the town comes from nearby Sultana Ranch. The first post office in Mustang was opened on December 11, 1907. The name of the town was changed to Mustang on November 15, 1909, due to its location on U.S. Route 66 near that route's first exit off the interstate highway. On July 3, 1912, the first tornado touched down in Oklahoma City; it destroyed homes and killed several people near what is now Joe Joes Pizza restaurant on First Street NE in Mustang. In 1918, Mustang had an electric light plant erected and became one of only two towns in Oklahoma to have electricity installed statewide. In 1922–23, local farmers organized a butter-baking contest which resulted in their winning an allotment of 10 cows for each family member to milk at home until they ran out of butter or milk; this event is still celebrated annually as a community event with a Butterfest celebration that includes live music and contests among various food items including but not limited to butter cream pies
