Today, Mustang is known for its wide variety of retail businesses including clothing stores, pet shops, hardware stores, restaurants and bars along with several churches which provide services such as religious education classes for children as well as funerals/burial services for local residents. It also has a strong agricultural sector with several family farms providing produce to nearby towns as well as local hospitals and schools serving students from surrounding rural areas

Mustang is located on the east side of the state, about 60 miles (97 km) north of Tulsa and 100 miles (160 km) northeast of Oklahoma City. Mustang's history can be traced back to 1907 when three men from neighboring Haskell County decided to settle a land claim near what is now downtown Mustang. The town name, given to them by the Cherokee people who had been living there for centuries, was "Tsalagi." A post office was established at what is now downtown Mustang in 1909, and by 1912, the town had a courthouse and two businesses. In 1914, the first high school opened its doors; it would remain an important educational institution until 1965 when it became part of Pearce State College District No. 5). The first car dealership in OKlahoma opened its doors here in 1916 with Waco Ford dealership #1 being built on Main Street just south of today's First Baptist Church which still stands today as one of only a few remaining buildings from that era! In 1918, Waco Ford began selling Buick cars direct from GM’s plant at Flint Hills outside Minneapolis! In 1924 Chevrolet automobiles were introduced into OKlahoma Territory for the first time! In 1925 Ford Motor Company donated 500 acres (200 ha) southeast of present day Mustang for use as their new research center for design and development work on new American vehicles including future Mustangs!
