Mustang is named after General George Armstrong Custer who fought in the Indian Wars and died in 1887 while on his way to Little Bighorn Battlefield near Sheridan, Wyoming. A post office called "Mustang" was established in 1911, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1933. In 1941, during World War II, Mustang became a military airfield serving the United StatesAAF Eighth Air Force Ninth Air Force Task Forces 153 & 154 flying P-39s from McCoy Field north of Tulsa for operations against Japan's Imperial Japanese Army Air Service (IJAAS). The airfield operated until 1945 with an average of 25 aircraft per day operating all types of planes including fighters and bombers; however no losses were sustained by the United StatesAAF fighter pilots based at McCoy Field during World War II. In 1946–1947 Mustang also served as headquarters for F-6F Fighting Falcons flying training missions over Korea for USAF Thor squadrons stationed there; these flights concluded with accidents on May 15th 1947 when two Thunderchiefs flew into Oklahoman powerlines while equipped with ejection seats – one killing both pilots and injuring five other passengers (the fatal accident occurred when one pilot lost control while executing an emergency landing after hitting tree branches turbulence). After almost 50 years without major use it reverted back to agricultural use as a distribution center for local ranchers prior to its demolition in 1990 following Owasso tornado damage which destroyed most of the buildings within city limits killed about 70% or more of the resident Population; portions remain standing today as homes/apartments/rental units./ Mustang is located 3 miles due east of I-35 exit 148 on US-62 about 12 miles west from downtown Tulsa

Mustang is a town and county seat in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. In 1916, a hotel was built in downtown Mustang to serve as a stop on stagecoach routes out of Tulsa. The first post office for Stephens County was established in downtown Mustang on July 1, 1916. The town became an automotive center with many new car dealers opening until World War II when production shifted to war goods due to the Depression. During World War II, production moved back to autos after being diverted to aircraft manufacturing due to the shortages of aluminum during that time period. The first Ford plant opened at Dearborn Heights northeast of Durant in 1940 which increased production by 10%. In 1957, First National Bank merged with Guaranty Savings & Loan Association making it one of the largest banks affiliating with American National Corporation (AFC) creating what would become known as Aircroft Television Corporation or "ANTC". At its height ANTC had over $1 billion worth of assets under management and employed more than 2600 people across three divisions: broadcasting services; technology; and merchandising/commerce operations including retail stores throughout North America such as Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney Company and Macy's Incorporated among others Antc closed its doors permanently following another antitrust violation from AFC along with other companies owned by American National Corporation during the early 1990s before turning into Time Warner Cable Companies home video Distribution Center located off Interstate 35 just east of I-40 Exit 344 near Sulphur Springs prior to their purchase by Charter Communications Corporation later that year which combined both companies' television businesses into one entity know today as Charter Spectrum . After years of being headquartered at Time Warner Cable Corporations main headquarters located off I-35 exit 346 within walking distance of several theme parks within miles OF Charter Spectrum's original headquarters building located inside mile radius off I-30 exit 348 known today as 'Charter Place' within minutes walking distance OF several major shopping centers - all this before becoming a single company - made it difficult for any potential rival since they would have had TO STRIP ALL CHARTERS PLACEHOLDERS AND NEW COMPANIES FROM THEIR HATRED BEFORE THEY EVEN OPENED THE DOOR!
